West Coast baseball is obviously different from SEC.... more small ball and offspeed/junk-ball pitching.

SEC is more guerrilla ball, flame throwing, etc.

Baseball is strange game- any team can beat anyone on any given day, moreso than any other sport. I'd say getting to Omaha is more of an indicator of conference success that title game victories. The better team won't always win a single championship game or a 3 game series.

I don't think the average SEC fan cared about college baseball until the mid 80's. Unless you were a State fan. And that probably didnt' start til the late 70's.

Well, honestly you could even say the 1990's. LSU had hardly ever done diddle until Bertman got here. But SEC AD's and Presidents/Chancellors learned that college baseball could be a money maker with the right coach, facilities, etc.

Other conferences could do the same thing.

They really need to cut down the field to about 16 or so, play a super regional and forget about the regionals. Fresno was a joke last year. The field has become watered down

Everyone should thank Ron Polk for this, He told anybody who would listen that college basebll could be a Big Money Maker. He has fought and fought over the years for SEC baseball.

It'll be interesting to see if UNC can finally break through. They're loaded with talent and one would think should be the favorite.

should be a pretty interesting year. lots of teams bringing back some serious talent. Big 12 race will be interesting. They're pretty stacked this year

We almost always host the regionals. Can't remember about last year. Baseball was fun too. Carried to cooler to the game sat behind right field and gave the poor player hell.

Excluding the Pac 10 there is also Fresno State and Cal State Fullerton. Both are historical powers.

I dunno if y'all know this or not, but they play some baseball in California.

Alabama would've "closed the deal" if not for LSU. Possibly a couple of times. In 1997 we would've for sure won the NC.

I think that up and down the SEC is by far the best conference. There are better overall teams out West though.
