We could offer more money than Dayton easily. Not to mention other than Archie Miller's Elite Eight run the program itself has only had moderate NCAA and NIT success. If Clemson can pull Oliver Purnell from there, we can pull Archie Miller.

@ESPNAndyKatz: Mississippi State should go get Ben Howland. You want to be relevant w/ John Calipari, Billy Donovan and Bruce Pearl in SEC? Get Howland.
That would be a great hire for sure

I am betting Miller is waiting for a better opportunity to strike. He will make runs at Dayton, he's not moving to a job like State or Bama.

Again money talks and I'm willing to bet whoever Stricklin goes after will get a lot of it thrown at them. He's got some proving to do because Rick Ray was his hire.

Drew or Miller are not taking the job at Bama or State. Be a lateral move.
I can see Dayton Bc they are in a multiple bid conference but no way in hell is Valpo on the same ground with State and Bama

The national media is saying it was a bad decision but who cares what they think.
The national media also thought it was a bad decision to fire Coach Croom. Since that firing, the only year we haven't gone to a bowl game was Mullen's first year.

Difference I think Archie sees he has a legit shot at an Indiana type job sooner rather than later and would be willing to hold out for that as Smart has at VCU. And that's no disrespect to State.

I definitely don't disagree with you there. No disrespect taken. I think it's still arguable the better job.

The National media weighing in on anything to do with Mississippi State is like asking an opinion from an Elvis impersonator in Japan.

I definitely think it's a better job than Dayton. On the flipside you don't want to take a job and bail a year later either.

I wouldn't sweat it. The dumbass "national media" had Jemele Hill on the sidelines when we got rid of Joker.

Step down for anyone taking the miss state job

We won in Starkville and own your arse In the series record. Like I said, it's a step down job.

Payne is the lead recruiter of Newman for UK. Sounds like Cal is moving from Newman with him wanting to be a SG Payne would do well in Starkville.

The State job is not a bad job at all. Our history proves that much.

I don't blame them for firing him, but this was the best they could hire last time. I doubt they'll get anything much better. Howland is an interesting choice though because it seems like no one else wants to touch him.
