Without question, teams will watch the adjustments the UF defense made in the 2nd half. In the 1st half, we pushed up the field with the ends, and the DT's didn't hold the gaps worth a damn. UF also spied Manziel with a Safety in the 1st half.

In the second half, it was obvious Muschamp made necessary adjustments at halftime. UF was now playing gap control with the DT's, the DE's weren't pushing up the field as much, and UF was using 1 LB on a delay blitz often and 1 LB to spy.

The delay blitz with a spy was extremely effective, as was more of a gap control style play by the DL. Doing this also allowed the UF DE's to make plays on the screens ATM tried to run.

Overall, it was a masterful performance by the D in the 2nd half, and without question you will see teams doing much of the same thing to slow ATM's offense down. I think you will see similar results to slowing down Sumlin's offense as we did Urban's in the SEC. It takes a season worth of approaching the game multiple ways, to make a blueprint.

Watch the game again and count the number of times Manziel threw the ball more than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage the entire game.

Don't worry bud, soon enough a herd of aggies will be here to explain how they would have beat you guys by 3 Tds had you played them in November.

Not sure why that would be necessary?

Florida sat in a 5-8 yard zone and dared Manziel to throw downfield in the 2nd half...and he didn't.

Compare that to the Alabama game...in which Manziel rifled it between defenders in the 4th quarter.

We ran zone with our LB's. Corners matched up in man/cover 4 look.

Exactly. The receivers weren't confident enough or used to Manziel, as he'd only been with the 1's for 2 weeks.

I'm not saying we would have won. Florida played a great game. However, to say that the September 8th Manziel is going to be what every team can expect is equally absurd.

Just read the shite some of them were saying about their game against LSU in the thread about the best 2 loss team this year.

Hell one is already talking about how early in the year sumlin/kk wouldn't dial up long passes for johny and that being the difference, as if the exact same logic doesn't apply to driskel who was making his first ever road start and improved drastically throughout the year.

The fact is UF was easily the best halftime adjusting defense in the country all year and they proved it in that game.

I wouldn't read into the result too much. Y'all won, congrats and such. And I agree with Lobotomy in that I don't guarantee that we would win had we played later...but you can't say that it wouldn't be a much different game.

I will say this about Florida:

Take away the 6 turnovers against Georgia (including the Jordan Reed fumble move at the end) and they're probably #1 playing #2 Notre Dame in 2 weeks.

I think Manziel was playing better late in the year, but so was UF's defense. Every team/individual grows throughout the year. One of Florida's biggest issues this year was playing up and down to competition. I just think UF's D matches up really well with ATM's O, same with LSU's D. Lots of speed and athleticism in the front 7 and corners that are good enough to man up. Only 2 teams that could hang with ATM because of the adjustments they made with their front 7.

You forgot the fake injuries to slow down the offense.

Yeah UF really showed that RS freshman in his very first collegiate game playing on a team with all new coaches.

What a herculean task by UF! Maybe yall should be playing in the Super Bowl!

Aggies are lucky they didn't have to play driskel late in the year when he actually learned how to be a qb. He took like 28 sacks in that game because he was still afraid to pull the trigger.

That was just to keep fresh bodies in the game. The foundation was set schematically.

What killed us against LSU and Florida was the fact that our OC inexplicably went away from the run when it was working.

In the Florida game, Ben Malena had 3 carries for 23 yards...all in the first half.

In the LSU game, Malena had 12 carries for 83 yards, but one critical fumble late in the first half that changed the entire course of the game.

The fact of the matter is both A&M and UF are alot better now than in September. IMO, UF would win the rematch because of Muschamp
