How is it a dumb example? It's the quintessential example of how its possible to beat drug testing in sport. Not just once or twice, but for years. Lance Armstrong was THE most dope tested athlete in history, and he never failed a drug test. I don't know what happened in Clemson or why, nor do I care. They had a banned substance in their system. Both tests confirmed it. Guilty.

Dabo says these gentlemen are just that, gentlemen. Honorable young men who wouldn't dare do anything like take a drug to gain an advantage over suckers and losers who don't dope up.

Dabo says it's all a lie.

Clemson had to resort to doping to beat us. Prove us wrong, Clemson. Ohhhh that's right...you can't. And proof is on our side, not yours.

Until the NCAA vacates our wins over USCe you’re wrong - but I’m sure if you hold your breath long enough your wish will come true.

Dabo said it may have been salt that they took while in the bath-tub, something about bath salts. The players were just cleaning up after a game, soaking in the tub and licking on a salt block, and now they can't play.

Crazy arse drug testers talking about Listerine showed up on the test. Now players have to go around with stinking breath to pass a test?

Lawsuits are coming. Billboards are being rented!

I don't know but I did the same thing after you mentioned it. It's funnier that way.

I'm floating in the tub, sucking on some Epsom salt, next thing you know I failed a drug test for a steroid substitute that is the hottest, latest, and coolest PED among bodybuilders because it activates the same receptors as old skool steroids without the side effects.

It's some kind of trickeration is what it is. I don't even use Listerine and never have.

Bath Salts

Clelin Ferrell said they’ll investigate the float tanks.

“The Epsom salt that’s in the float tank we’re floating in,” the Clemson defensive end continued. “It could’ve been anything.

“They’re investigating everything.”

Clemson's attempted defense in this whole thing has been hilarious. That combined with their holier than thou attitude makes this story great.

I am not arguing he is not guilty of having it in his system. I am saying based on past history of no PED use despite being tested over the past several years in the playoff and by Clemson, it is plausible that it was exposure via contamination and not as part of some grand steroid scheme. Exposure via contamination has happened recently with a triathlete.

We all know exactly what happened.

You do, too.

There is only one explanation.

Immaculate injection.

This isn't the best example to use. 1) It was never proven that salt tablets were the source of the banned aubstance. That was just a theory floated by the athlete. 2) The athlete still accepted a 6 month ban from sport for failing the test.

Given what I posted above about how one can beat dope testing by microdosing and timing, it doesn't look good for Clemson.

After 5 half lives, a drug is considered eliminated from the body. Having such a small amount in their system would tell me they either were exposed to a small amount recently or a larger amount much further back. The common denominator between the 3 players, is that they all are recovering from injury over the past year. Regardless, it was in their system, rules are rules.

quote:

By definition, the plasma concentration of a drug is halved after one elimination half-life. Therefore, in each succeeding half-life, less drug is eliminated. After one half-life the amount of drug remaining in the body is 50% after two half-lives 25%, etc. After 4 half-lives the amount of drug (6.25%) is considered to be negligible regarding its therapeutic effects.

Contaminated medicine is not that unheard of. I took the blood pressure medicine Diovan for years. Got a notice to see my Doctor and start on another drug. The medicine was manufactured in China. The contamination was rocket fuel.

No, it is a response to your point about half life and how recent the use would have been. If the amount detected is a tiny trace, it stands to reason it could have been a longer time period.

Okay. So, are you saying it was okay if they took it the week before?

Athletes have been masking steroids and PED's for decades, and are very successful with it. Just because they have not been caught before does not mean they have never been doing it.

That said, probably every team in the NCAA has players doing something. Usually they get caught because they mask incorrectly.

That's false.

Here's a quote from someone one /r/cfb who seemingly knows what they're actually talking about.

quote:

As a Clemson grad I have a pretty objective take. Big Dex said the test revealed a 0.02% amount of it per unit volume. A common threshold for drug testing is 15 ng/mL which would translate to 0.0000015% per unit of volume. 0.02% is A LOT and definitely not something they got from an energy drink or “on accident”.
