But another subject of the hearing is current Mississippi State linebacker Leo Lewis, who has claimed that he received more than $20,000 during his recruitment from multiple SEC schools.

Steven Godfrey, covering the entire Ole Miss saga for SB Nation, reported Monday that Greg Christopher, COI chair and Xavier University athletic director, twice denied requests from parties who wanted to either attend the meeting or obtain documents related to the investigation. One of those parties, Godfrey reported, was Mississippi State.

According to the report, because Lewis is expected to appear at the hearing in Covington, Ky., Mississippi State requested it be allowed to send officials with him “as observers to guard the interests of one of its student-athletes who will attend the hearing.”

Mississippi State made that request on Aug. 16, but Christopher reportedly declined the request and instead stated that the representatives from the SEC would be allowed to attend “to support the student athlete.”

Did we ever get an explanation for why it's in Covington?

I went to a Jillians in Covington once. The things I saw...

Seems odd. Considering Ole Miss directly blamed one of MSUs players for their problems.

This writer is a complete idiot.

Of course they did deny MSU's request. UM is the school sitting on death row. while it would be fun and the stuff of funny stories for years to come, they only have eyes for Ole Miss.

No sense for too many witnesses to be there when the COI chair, gives OM that prepare to be raped wink. Too many witnesses only Hurts his sterling reputation.

Insert dancing Banana.

You are missing some other interesting news about this......

quote:

Two current Mississippi State players, Jeffery Simmons and Kobe Jones, were interviewed by NCAA development in February of 2016. The development staff works as an open tip line for schools, athletes, or anyone else to contact the NCAA about potential violations, suggesting that Jones and Simmons could have volunteered to speak to the NCAA. According to multiple sources, Jones told NCAA enforcement he’d discussed speaking with the NCAA about former MSU defensive line coach and current Texas A&M assistant David Turner.

Since it was in 2016, wouldn't that fit perfectly with the MSU line that they had already been investigated by the NCAA and cleared?

Good job dumbass. You just linked an article to a OM homer at SB Nation who hasn't proven to be right about anything he has posted. As a matter of fact he had to delete a whole bunch of his shite from RedCupRebellion after going on a homophobic rant and making fun of people with mental retardation.

From a source better than that, this is incorrect. State did not request to attend.
