This.

Smith just had piss poor timing in this situation.

Chris Black was a sneaky fricker.

Meh, maybe not everyone is helped the same way by the process. Maybe some kids need a little more support and guidance and a little less

So the ultimate control coach who focuses on the details let this slip by his staff?

Well, it spins well enough.

While Black might have been sneaky, I very seriously doubt Smith could have been.

If a contributor had turned in his transfer request a couple days before the LSU game, alarm bells would have went off.

I can smell the bullshite in this. You mean to tell me that Alabama, who has people who's whole job is to take care of stuff like this, let a transfer request just slip by. Oops. Missed that one. Sorry coach.
Saban would have had their head on a stick out in front of his office as a warning to all.

I guess you don't work in a field that utilizes process improvement?

You know, a situation occurs that your unit is unprepared for (like a transfer request in the middle of the fricking season) and you take steps to ensure the situation doesn't happen again.

But it couldn't be that, right?

I am as big a Bama fan as there is and have been all my life but i hope no one actually believes this as nothing more than some primitive form of damage control. We are constantly told how bama employs a support staff larger than nfl teams so this kind of elementary school blunder isnt even plausible. Multiple people would be fired over this and it would have been out there before now most likely. Why release it now and look even more incompetent?

Normally so, but when I see a post from you I drop everything else because I know it's important!

I guess he was focused on going 7-0 from that week on, and winning something more important than the Birmingham Bowl.

Al.com (REC) doing work again... Amazing the media propaganda and how fast they get it our...

control the media and you control the masses

The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power. Because they control the minds of the masses.

Can someone fill me in on the rules. If scholarships are year to year, and a player graduates, what right does the school have to keep him there longer than they want?

Seems like a total bullshite rule. And I'm sure of the Mizzou ER transfer was an impact player, his paperwork would not have "slipped through the cracks."

Honestly thought that's where that story was heading,

I did too. And you have to admit, it would've been amusing albeit embarrassing for type-A personality like Saban to get such a glaring detail wrong. Oh well, a golden opportunity at some levity missed.
