Here's what Final Four smack essentially comes down to:

Yes, and it says more about how bad a program barometer that is than it does about Mizzou.
Which basketball program would you take straight up, in terms of tradition, ability to compete, facilities, etc: Alabama or George Mason?
Unless you're smoking crack most people would take Alabama. Its a major conference team, has been to the Big Dance way more times, has the ability and does recruit much better players, attracts better coaches, etc.
But George Mason has been to the Final Four once whereas Alabama has not. To listen to a lot of dweebs in this thread, that makes George Mason hands down the better program. You can buy that shite if you want to. I'm not.

You wanna know why Mizzou has lots of and loud hoops fans who are on here, there it is. Getting to the Big Dance, like making bowl games, is a sign of at least having a good competitive program. You're not gonna ignore basketball if your team's name is called on Selection Sunday. Ours has been the third most of any SEC team. We care. You can talk shite about that if you want, but at least we spend less time watching our team frick around with Robert Morris in the NIT than your average SEC team does. It is what it is.

Geez. These fricking carpet baggers will be coming to Oxford in 10 days. At least they won't be here long....with it being a night game, I only expect them to show up at game time with a $20 Bill and a T-shirt and they probably won't change either.

Bama doesnt talk trash in basketball. They talk smack in sports they have accomplishments in like football and various womens sports.
When it comes to passion about basketball Missouri is in the top 3 in our conference no doubt.
