Really wish I had met him, during my time at Germantown. It sounds like we would be a better country and world, with more people like him. GHS should be proud to be able to call him an alum.

I don't get it, but I'm not going to let that type of thing bother me. Hopefully people just hit the wrong button by accident. It's hard to compare tragedies, but if I had to compare this to anything I'd go with the Boston Marathon. Even though one was a terrorist attack, and one was just an unfortunate tragedy, they are so comparable in the way those events define the community. Both of these events were maybe the most important of the year, and when you have an unexpected tragedy at something so beloved, it rattles your whole world. There is very little good that could come out of either of these tragedies, but seeing how each individual community came together in love and strength was so impressive to me and I love how united the Aggies are in remembering their bretheren that lost their lives that day. I'm not sure another University has ever had a closer connection than they have had since that day. Just very impressive of them.

Before the accident, there were two culminating events, each being the focus of a semester.

Fall semester was Bonfire
Spring semester was Muster

Ever since the accident, the student body has been fractured beyond repair.

Remember like it was yesterday. That was a sad time for the A&M Nation and all Americans in general.
Prayers sent for their families....

I remember being woken up from someone banging on our dorm room in Schumacher Hall, barely an hour after getting back and passing the F out. It was an extremely sobering morning on the polo fields to say the least, being out there all morning and day.

Thankfully I was fortunate to see the last one burn on campus in 98.

Honestly, that memorial is an appropriate honor.

Its beautiful. There is a portal for each one of the students that died and each student's portal faces their hometown

It was impressive that the football team cancelled practice to go to Bonfire and move the logs. Watching those big guys pick up the logs that afternon and move them like toothpicks was impressive.

It was quiet like a church service, just hundreds of Aggies clearing the area.

Came here expecting there to be at least one a-hole present but I'm surprised to find that there isn't. Good on you rant, good on you.

Every time I go to the memorial I read the last corps trip (inscribed at the entrance to the memorial) and it brings a tear to my eye. So here it is if anyone wants to read it.

This. I listened to a caller on TexAgs today suggest that it could be brought back on campus if every participant signed a waiver, and I know he meant well but he just didn't get it. Waivers or not, to me this just isn't something to continue after 12 kids were killed - and I lived and breathed bonfire. The teamwork and ridiculous hours required to build that sumbitch for me pretty much defined my time at A&M. But I can't imagine looking any of those families in the face and saying, "Yeah, we think it would be a good idea to bring it back."
