early in the season a few years back because his offensive scheme wasn't working. I remember the pictures of him carrying his boxes out of the office and loading his car. Everybody on this board was laughing about it.

Anyone remember hearing that Otis went nuts during his last practice running all over the field coaching every position personally?
he was under immense pressure to make his system work to save his job and got no help from the BBQ gang. I also heard that he called out Burns and Ziemba and basically called one of them either useless or a piece of shite and the other one got in on it and they almost fought.

Tubs can be pretty bad when it comes to hiring assistants. He loves to tap into an area he is familiar with and hire a coach he met one time at a banquet.
I'm sure plenty of Troy State assistants have become rich because of Tubs.

Did Greg Knox ever do anything to earn his paycheck?

recruiting coordinator
they found an awful lot of diamonds in the rough guys that went on to the NFL. Outside of that, he was a terrible receiver coach.

Was he the one Tubbs hired at TT that got arrested for spousal abuse?

Edit: Smoke beat me to it.
Tubs was going to fire him anyways though. He didn't like that Willis interviewed with UF without telling anybody. And then he beat his wife or some shite.

What was Franklins scheme which was so terrible?
Franklin is not a great OC, but he is a decent OC.
And every member of Tub's ol BBQ gang fought him tooth and nail.
Franklin finally got sick of it and one day in practice he took over coaching every goddam position on the offense so he could teach them how to do it the way he needed in his offense.
He was out the door the same day. Tub's ALWAYS had his BBQ boy buddies best interests in mind over any other interest, including Auburn's.

All of this. The more and more I look at that situation and at others at schools, the more it feels like a second coordinator (aka an OC or DC brought in after the first is fired) has an impossible task. They have to get the assistant coaches to buy in, then they have to get the players to buy in. Being brought in to implement a totally different system while bringing in 0 of your own assistants is a difficult task, and the BBQ gang made it a hell of a lot more difficult.
The fact that basically none of those assistants still coach at the collegiate level is so hilarious. We had an Oline coach who went to work at a trucking company after how many of his players went to the NFL? How the hell we accomplished frickin anything ever is beyond me.
Don't get me wrong, I like Tubs and thought he was a great coach, but almost all of his assistants were fricking terrible, complacent, and disinterested in putting the time in to develop players and it showed at the end of Tubs' tenure there.

Was this the same year that Tubbs got fired as well?

Every OC after 2003 was working with a knife at his back each and every day because Hugh Nall, after his disastrous term as OC in 2003, was goddam poison.

Pretty sure Terry Price is coaching at A&M. And I think Greg Knox is at MSU.
