I think your baseball program is not going to be the problem. I don't think coaches don't make good AD's in this day and age. Tanner may be great though, I guess we will have to wait and see. Anyway congrat's to him!

Signed,

Smoke Laval Obviously the joke has been made. So I will also point out that we did the same thing in football. We called him Mike Archer. I believe he is the d coordinator at NC State now. Didn't work out here :lol

I'm sure he will be great, just messing with you guys.

I heard Holbrook was the only guy who would agree to let Tanner keep the Baseball Camp Money.

I also heard Tanner's wife has a contract to provide concessions at the Camp as well.

Sorry, wrong school...

Yeah its hard to imagine but Tanner is still only our 2nd winningest coach in baseball. Of course he has the 4 biggest wins for those titles, but I only mention that to say we've had some legit success pre-Tanner and confident the baseball team can move on.

Just hope Tanner is as good as an AD as he is a baseball coach.

I guess Holbrook and Smoke Laval must be the same person. Nobody knows how this will turn out, but we Carolina fans are optimistic. It may backfire, but Holbrook may keep us as the premier program in the SEC and win a couple of CWS titles himself. Fact is, nobody knows, but we are confident in his abilities.

Congrats to Coach Tanner on an incredible tenure.

Questions for USC fans: if things don't pan out with his replacement, any chance he would return to the dugout?

Doubt it. He made it clear once he stopped coaching he wanted to be an AD. I think he only had a couple seasons left doing baseball anyways.

Do not promote the assistant
South Carolina could have any coach it wants right now - Corbin from Vandy would crawl to Columbia or any other big time coach

normally i'd agree w/ you except Chad is the guy we need. ...not to mention that Corbin spent too much time at Clemson under Leggette for our liken. i'm not worried about baseball as much as Tanner's abilility to be the CEO of the athletic dept. but I'm sure he got the endorsement of Spurrier, which would mean a lot because Spurrier has a lot of experience from Duke, to UF and 2 ADs at SC.
