Regardless, we used to give you guys a much better game. Saban is just a monster of a coach.

Yeah you did. And I think a lot of that had to do with the philosophy Gene Stallings had when he was the head coach at Alabama in the 90s. The man just didn't understand offense. I genuinely believe that he believed that defense could win a football game all by itself and that offense was merely a necessary evil you had to live with as a coach.

His offenses were almost unbearable to watch sometimes. Take the '94 Alabama-MSU game for starters. We scored 29 points in that game. We averaged 24 points a game. That game was an offensive explosion for our team and yet, despite our anemic offense, we came within a hair's breadth of playing Nebraska for the national championship that year and our QB finished 5th in the Heisman Trophy race.

Fun to watch a little bit of that. Man I miss Jim Fyffe

I wanted to shove his mike down his throat and pull it out his arse every time he did that "Touchdown Auburn", but Jim was a absolutely great play by play guy.

Not his running game. He loved a good running game. It was up-tempo and first and second down passing that frustrated him.

Definitely. When that running game was on it was on. But when it wasn't those games could be very frustrating. Those 14-9 and 13-6 wins were frequent during Stallings's tenure.

true, they got in several dog fights with Vandy and State when they never really should have.

Alexander coming out of the backfield to catch that pass and just ran for big yards broke our back. On my dvd Sherrill mentioned it was the play that got Bama going. We played you guys well up until that point but Alexander was a beast. Again, it simply broke our back late and was a great call.
