I could care less, I let politicians handle politics.
Look I like Louisiana and New Orleans but as a whole state, Florida is just a better lifestyle-- in my opinion of course

I know. Southern food has a lot of French influences. I don't eat a lot of fried foods though... and far too many southern foods are fried.

I really don't either. I mean I won't turn it down if it's done right but I looooove slow cooked food. It allows a good seasoner with a good palate to really make something special. Frying is more of technique kinda thing which is great for some things but not everything.

This is idiotic. Food does not make a state. There is a large contingent of Louisiana people in Atlanta and they bring the cooking with them. I am even going to get crawfish tonight. To say any state is better because of food is just idiotic.

You can say you have fresher seafood (Atlanta also is a big enough hub that seafood here is shipped in same day) but there is nothing that keeps food contained in a state line. I even had great creole in Hermosa Beach Cali.

Que? Only in Louisiana would that be true. The rest of the south is Scot-Irish and English.

Not true. The French settled throughout the south. Just because it's not cajun/creole doesn't mean that it doesn't have French influences.

You can say that again.

O/U 2 weeks until he makes us another thread slobbing on Florida's knob?

It's like the guy likes hearing himself talk.

Yes, there are Louisiana transplants in several states that own Louisiana restaurants. Guess what? The food in other states is seasoned to the taste of the local residents.

I've lost count of the times someone has taken me out to a Louisiana restaurant in their city, only for me to be disappointed in the taste of the food. The locals invariably can't handle spices like people who grew up in Louisiana.

Simply put...you eat as you live. And Louisiana food outside of Louisiana, just isn't the real thing.

By the way, I have nothing against Florida. It has some beautiful beaches. But OP is like a 7 in a room full of women making fun of 4s when there are 10s in the room as well.

I would add that Florida has the highest percentage of educated residents also. however, what is NOT awesome about florida is the food. freshest seafood around and nary a chef to showcase it. I love florida and travel there recreationally a lot, esp Sanibel island. but I always rent a cabin with a kitchen so I can cook the stuff myself.

The amount of food nationally known for it's French influences is 99% from Louisiana.

As far as the rest of the south, it's fried, grilled, and baked on holidays. Over-cooked and under-seasoned is more likely than not.

Just the facts...

If you're trying to say that Cali is a 10, you'll be disappointed with some of your feedback on this board..

Just because Louisiana is the only state "known" for it's French influenced cuisine doesn't mean that there aren't many other foods that are influenced by the French.

Not that it matters anyway. People from France would absolutely turn their noses up at cajun or creole food.

Respectfully disagree. The cooks I have met take pride and even use the same spices used in Louisiana. The woman in Cali has it shipped to her so it tastes the same as it does in Louisiana.

Another case in point. This guy in Acworth would never "water things down". I love spicy and it is spicy. I have also eaten in La very many times and have had bad creole food there. It is all about the cook, not necessarily the state you reside.
