I made the mistake of buying into the Florida hype and moving there for college... BIG MISAKE! UCF was one of the ten largest schools in America, yet the women at Auburn and Alabama blow the UCF trash out of the water.
90% of Orlando is trash. There are more white trash vagrants roaming the streets than the three neighboring states combined. The weather is horrible. Crime is on every street corner. The city looks like used toilet paper. Orange Blossom Trail!?Every day a Florida resident attempts to one up another by downloading child porn and blaming it on his cat, or allows a pet python to devour their newborn, or claims to have seen Bigfoot in a swamp, or eats a man's face, etc (all true stories). And nearby Cocoa beach looks like Mexico. J-ville is one gigantic hood on steroids. Daytona is a redneck's place of zen. And outside of the coastal cities on the panhandle, it's Deliverance. I'll never step foot inside of that toxic wasteland ever again.
It sucks so bad, I moved to Georgia... And Georgia is Mississippi with a major city... Yet it's still a more livable state than Florida.

Yep. I've never quite understood the "my state is better than yours" battles. It's all relative to the person. I find the OP to be totally off-base, but that's in terms of my preference.
I think a lot of it comes from people who've never traveled as well as those who haven't gotten to experience all the good peeps who come from all over this country - even the world. Plus, for the South, we're used to getting picked on and develop an 'us vs. them' attitude because we hear our own particular state get picked on whenever a politician or loudmouth does something embarrassing.
It's a shame though. This country and pretty much all first world nation's have a lot to offer. You just gotta pick a good spot within any given area but people are people.

You're a moron. Georgia is nothing but ATL and Athens, mabey savannah, but Florida destroys Georgia as a state, especially to live in.

Florida
Texas
Tennessee
Georgia
Louisiana
That's the top 5. Not really debatable IMO.

Louisiana is not for everyone, but for me, it's the best. At this point I can only think of 3 counties outside of LA I could see living in. Shelby County, TN, Desoto and Hancock Counties, MS.

Based on how many coonasses and Ole Miss folks I see wandering around Houston, I'd say Texas seems to be the place to be.

Let's see. Florida has:
South Beach. Most disgusting place on Earth.
Jacksonville. Birmingham on a bay.
Tampa. America's leader in strip clubs.
Orlando. Disney. Gawd.
The Keys. All that water and no beaches.
Destin. Myrtle Beach without the disgusting callabash seafood buffets.
Gainesville. Waffle Houses, Jorts, and meth.
Yeah, totally awesome.

Here's yet another gem from Florida! Seriously, you can't make this stuff up! Florida = white trash kingdom!

This. I was born and raised in Alabama, and have lived in California (SF Bay area), Arizona (Phoenix), Texas (Corpus Christi), Louisiana (Slidell and Pearl River), Florida (Gulf Breeze and St. Pete), and North Carolina (Elizabeth City). How much a person enjoys a particular area depends largely on that person's attitude; there were positives and negatives to every place I've lived, but I enjoyed them all. There are great people everywhere, and there are "less than desirables" everywhere. Regarding education, my children attended public schools in Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Florida, and Alabama, and their educational experiences were always much more reliant on their individual teachers than being in a particular state or school district.

Food is an art form in Louisiana. I have eaten good food in Florida, but food in Louisiana is off the charts. New Orleans is known around the world for their food. I have never heard of anyone going to Florida for the food. Florida is known for beaches, sunshine, and condo vacations.

Excuse me? First time I've ever heard that.
I'll also add that everyone posting crawfish places in their state as "French Louisiana" would be greatly surprised to find out that the spice blend in crawfish is more of a Spanish influence than French.

Yeah, I like the Huntsville area and on down to the Tennessee River. Once you go south of the river, Alabama goes downhill fast.
I agree with this. Born and raised along the River and moved south of it twice. Still haven't found a place quite like home.
