Alabama was good in the 80's but never even made it past the Sweet 16 in all of those appearances.
Sorry but I will take Houston's three final fours and two title game apperances over Bama's history during that time frame.

It was Kentucky, sometimes LSU and then a bunch of scrub teams.
You need a refresher on SEC basketball. Alabama actually has the second most wins in SEC basketball history, and had great teams under C.M. Newton and Wimp Sanderson.

What does houston have to do with SEC basketball.
I said you needed to learn a little more about SEC basketball history.

And yet never made it past the Sweet 16 while LSU did multiple times.

In the last decade they should be #1 but before 2000 Florida was nothing in basketball.
If you base this list off of NCAA tournament appearances and results and omit conference results then the list still looks about the same with Florida maybe passing LSU.
Do some research.
LSU only has 4 more tourney appearances, with the same number of Final Fours. However the separation is that UF has appeared in the championship game 3 times and won it twice. History matters, but what UF has done even in the last 10 years is much more significant on the national scene.

I wouldn't get too excited. I'm not so sure how official any of these rankings actually are.
Yeah, I know ya'll have won more SEC tournaments than us. I wonder the regular season championships compare between us? NCAA tourney invites? I think ya'll have gone farther than us (Final Four?) but Auburn (I think) has one Elite Eight and three Sweet Sixteens.
Would like to see the breakdown of each of his scores.
But, in the mean time...

10. Auburn
11. Georgia

Basketball wasn't crap in the SEC until Arkansas came in and shook the place up. It was Kentucky and all the other schools were just biding time til Spring football.
sounds like LSU basketball this year

Few more stats that may be considered
- Second most wins
- second most SEC championships
- second most SEC tourney championships
- second best winning percentage
- winning record against all SEC teams except UK (poss ark)

That's not the point. You were clearly glossing over some great teams, across the conference, prior to Arkansas and South Carolina's arrival in the 1991-1992 season.

Guess you missed where we were the #1 seed in 99

Oh yeah? Well I'm going to make my OWN rankings then. Here it goes, and I'm not revealing the formula btw.
1a. Kentucky
1b. Georgia

.
.
.
12. Auburn
So there.

Flip LSU and Florida and your list is legit.

The difference in sweet 16 and elite 8?
one game
So you're basing the success of a whole season on one game out of about 40.

Hell, in 89-90, UK didn't even make the NCAA Tourney field.
That's because we were on probation FWIW.

Where would you rank Bama. You have the floor

quote:um... unless 8 is greater than 11 all of a sudden, I'm pretty sure LSU is still second on this list.
- second most SEC championships
ETA: unless you're pulling some sort of Bama football championship logic on us all...

This...
I can believe.
But this...
Strains all effort at suspending disbelief.

I listed on the first page.
Knowing where to rank ark is difficult, due to short time in league

Only because they were banned from post season play. That's the only reason.
Some people on this board have an overinflated sense of self worth regarding their teams.
