Not true by any stretch of the imagination, but I can understand why some may want to think that.
Worked for multiple fortune 500 companies in New york, we are only seen as football schools, sorry to burst your bubble. Each school may have a specific program or two that will help with a hiring manager, but it terms of prestige to everyday people, they are seen exactly the same

No they are correct I understand UF has better academics, but you think someone from California or New York knows that? Hahahahahaha. We are football schools to them in the Deep South.

There are four elite public universities. They are, in order: UC Berkeley, UCLA, University of Virginia, and University of Michigan.

Literally LOL at all the Florida fans that think their schools is elite.

I don't see anyone saying UF is at the top of the elite public schools, just disagreeing with the notion that SEC schools aren't distinguishable nationally. That hasn't been my experience nor any other Gator I know.

Well to put it nicely, I think people are just trying to be nice to your face. Here is a question, do you know the difference between Arizona, Arizona st, oregon, Oregon st, Utah? Of course you don't without looking it up. That's how people from the rest of the country see the SEC. It makes sense

You dumb enough to think #55 is the way we'll finish? I didn't think you were but maybe I was wrong.

Yeah, in reality it could be much worse.

You do this shite in every thread about academics. UF fans don't equate our academics with Vandy or consider it elite. But it's pretty good and it's top 50 overall. And if we're ranking SEC school academics, then UF is near the top but way below Vandy. Those are the facts.

If you want to delve into the uselessness of college rankings, feel free since there's a lot to criticize there.

Florida is white trash. Like a turd hanging off the butt of the lower south.
Missouri? A Yankee school! No sir.
Kentucky students tend to be very odd, socially. Lots of red hair & freckles.
Arkansas is white trash. Descendents of bushwackers and horse thieves.

Vandy,Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss are all top tier.

The next time anyone dares to make a silly/fake/"tamu is gay" comment (the least gay university in this conference, btw), I'm going to heartily guffaw, while reflecting upon this foppish thread.
And some of you are actually trying to offer legit responses.

Ten reasons why I object:

1 - We make and sell cheese.
2 - We have the "singing silo".
3 - We have both a north farm and a south farm.
4 - We have the one and only Eckie's pond.
5 - Train tracks ran through our campus at one time.
6 - We arrested Johnny Cash (well, Starkvegas did, but we claim it).
7 - We have "The" Seed Technology Lab, and "The" Boll Weevil Lab.
8 - Our Animal Husbandry Building has a six foot thick Registered bullshite floor.
9 - Our Left field lounge makes your left field lounge look like a T-ball bleacher.
10 - Our mascot will take a leak on your leg.
