So now the measure of a coach in his first year is how well he does against South Carolina? That's a weird metric.

Really? Because I remember a lot of talk preseason about how Gus had recruited some of your guys and how he was walking into a better situation with all your players considering he had been there plus you had better recruiting classes overall. IIRC, Auburn fans touted all that as the reason that you'd have a better season this year, turns out you were right. Sorry, for admitting you were right.

You laugh, but Stoops' team didn't get curb stomped by USCe with a lot lesser talent than Arkansas has on the roster.

Congrats for losing by fewer points. If you didn't already know, Spurrier has a personal vendetta against Arkansas.

Absolutely. With the way he's recruiting, I'd put all 3 of them on the same level. Then, Bert.

But Beer, you can't compare performance against common opponents.

I'd be willing to say most Alabama fans who watched both of their games against Arkansas and Kentucky will tell you UK is better at this juncture as well. And as I said, Kentucky was routinely last in the SEC in recruiting so we know it's not a "they have more talent issue".

So you're seriously arguing that a defensive coordinator is a better head coach than a guy who won three straight conference titles.

What's that you were saying about delusion?

Still not sold on Butch Jones. He's recruiting well but his two signature games thus far have been a close loss to a depleted Georgia team and a close win against a South Carolina team that will more than likely finish the season 8-4 or 7-5. The Alabama game will be telling.

So most head coaches started as head coaches?

Well I'll be damned.

And yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. It doesn't take much more than a eye test to see right now Kentucky's "talent" is better coached then Arkansas' "talent".

What have those three conference title wins gotten you in the last 5 games? Over the last two games you have been outscored 104-7.

since when we do judge hires based on 8 games? y'all are desperate for attention. Lane Kiffin also looked good in year 1. Petrino sucked.

thank you, that's my point. So far, yes, your rankings based on performance are accurate but pretty much meaningless this early and considering situations.
