I'll base it on loyalty, even when team is bad.

Attendance, and attitude towards program.

Currently:

1. Kentucky
2. Arkansas
3. Florida
4. Vandy
5 MSU
6 LSU
7 Bama
8 UT
9 UGA
10 USC
11 AU
12 Ole Miss

Ranking the fanbases, especially when you use the criteria of fan support when the team is "down," isn't easy. Most are bandwagon as hell.

LSU's probably a bit high. Last year there were literally hundreds of people at some of their home games. But again its not easy, in that we're all bandwagon, unfortunately.

UT is very much bandwagon but it's the only thing they support right now.

I'd put them at number 5. MSU, Bama, LSU are all the same. Bama and MSU will do much better than LSU this year, and the attendence will reflect that.

I don't know about anyone else, but LSU fans are super bandwagon on the basketball team. It's our third favorite and we show it. When we are good, though, the P-Mac shows some love.

Agreed. Loyal LSU basketball fan support (Deaf Dome) died in the mid-90s. Students don't even give a shite anymore. ETA: Will spike in good years but every year the team has to earn it.

I'd put State and Vandy above Florida for sure.

I agree with this. MSU was mildly successful in bball in the 2000s and had absolutely shite for football. We longed for basketball season in September. Last year's attendance was pretty poor but having 5 games in 5 days in late December and the Sidney/Bailey fight left everyone fed up with the program.

We field a basketball team?

I thought that was our volleyball arena.

If you want to factor in program success and fan apathy, for sure agree with you. You would think Florida fans would be rabid about hoops with the success that they have had under Billy D.

That had to be tough. Bama last year had a less than stellar OOC record and still maintained good crowds throughout SEC play. I'm interested to see how it is this year with 3 losses coming into conference play. I know Jan 11th vs LSU will be packed.

Florida could not even sell out the ODome in national title years. Tennessee has been top 5 nationally 6 years in a row prior to this year. I would put us 3rd.

I would give Alabama a little more respect than that.

Yea, Florida basketball has by far the biggest success to attendance/giving a shite disparity in the SEC for any sport. IIRC they weren't selling out their 12k seat arena during their back to back championship run.

You have to have South Carolina at the top. They packed their stadium weekly, even in the Lou Holtz era.
