If they pull this thing off and are able to have the choice of bringing back colonel Reb on the state ballot, how would you vote?
This question can also be for Mississippi residents that are fans of other teams (besides ole miss)

I'm a State fan. I also ignore parenthesis. What was the question again?

I'd vote for Col. Reb. I'll always associate him with Ole Miss

My high school had a rebel, fricking Ole Miss should have one. sorry I don't live in Mississippi.

Hell, I would go door to door with a red shirt on campaigning for it - then vote yes. What an incredible folly for anyone associated with Ole Miss.......

Holy shite. If State fans that were MS residents were smart, they'd vote for Col Reb just to create a bigger rift among your alumni. How often does a rival school have the opportunity to (hypothetically) decide a mascot the majority of the fanbase doesn't want?

I didn't think the story had any legs at first, but it was on the front page yahoo tonight.

No. If your leadership won't protect your traditions why should I?
Having said that even if it passes this public vote or whatever, what is that suppose to do? It sounds more like a petition to me.

You know what, if you had asked me this six months ago and anytime before that, I would have said bring it back, but nowadays I'm to the point where it is just stupid to fight shite like this, IMO. Let the PC people claim the victory and move on. If it makes our state seem racist to some people, get rid of it. I mean it's not that important to me, but it does piss me off that people act offended by Colonel Reb. Notice that I said they act offended, not that the are offended.

This is why I do not want it to come to a vote

.... Why can't this just die?

I will actively campaign for it- I want that old racist bastard all over your school when recruits visit

It is supposedly voting to ammend the state constitution to where col Reb must be brought back. I guess they are banking on it working since its a public university. It doesn't sound feasible to me, but what do I know.
All I know is, whatever happens, we're gonna look stupid.
