The only reason PM would be given a chance to right the ship after missing the SEC tourney would be because of his successful resume, but if it wasn't followed with a great season he would be gone.

Or the fact that our AD doesn't fire people. Johnny Jones survived an abortion of a season without a successful resume. Nikki Fargas has taken an elite WBB program and ran it into the ground, and she's still getting paid more than CPM if I'm not mistaken.

I would not be satisfied with LSU missing the SECT and also the CWS Regionals.

The SECT has always been where LSU has gotten it's tournament groove going and not being there would be a failure IMO.

If Mizzou, Tenn, KY, Bama and GA make it but LSU didn't then it's certainly "come to Jesus" meetin time.

Arkansas' strategy of winning with pitching failed this year and Jorn retired as a result. If I was a Razorback fan then I'd expect for DVH's seat to be hot next season.

I'd equate DVH's situation next season to Les Miles' situation in seasons past.

The SEC tourney is a battle of attrition. Once your top starters are done it's whoever can survive the thing.
Some years there is seeding to play for in the NCAA tourney, other years it doesn't really matter and some teams just want to get work in.
I think the thing LSU preaches to players is that you can either get your work in at the SEC tourney or you can go home and practice all week if you get bounced early. That's motivation enough to not have to practice in May LA heat.
At the end of the day you are still competing for championships.

No. We are in our own situation with Coach Holbrook.

We've had 6 consecutive years of Top10 ranked recruiting classes (3 of which were Top5 ranked classes.)

Holbrook's 1st year he made Super's, the next year we hosted a Regional but lost, and then last year we missed the NCAAt completely.

Holbrook may have a Top10 team right now, but I and many fans still have the expectation that Holbrook better AT LEAST make Super's this year, or he is a bust. If a HC can't make Super Regionals with 5 previous years of Top10 recruiting classes, the nicest college baseball park in the country, 2 National Championships this decade, and an AD who is a former baseball coach...then that HC doesn't deserve the job he has. We can do better, we are a premiere baseball school.

So SCAR and LSU fans are telling me they wouldn't find it acceptable for a coach to win the SEC once in a decade in a half with a team he inherited while missing the SECT and finishing 7-23 in league play in year 14?

We went through that 5 years ago. Not interested in going through that again.

I mean no Arkansas fan is happy about the season but what do you want us to do? Demand he be fired?

My feeling in the SEC tournament...it's a fun week of baseball. Who does not want to win it? However, the next one is important. So unless you are on the bubble of a super regional or getting in the big tournament, don't overuse players to win this one. For example, Florida would probably benefit losing two and resting for next week. Bubble teams however need to go as deep as they can while in Hoover.

If we're 13th or 14th in the SEC and miss the tourney, it's inexcusable. Our fanbase would definitely lash out at the team leadership.

Having said that, I don't give a damn about the SECT. Tanner always took the approach of not exerting too much effort in Hoover so as to better prepare for Regionals. We were successful with that mindset, so I'm cool with keeping it going.

LSU fans would go ballistic if the team went 7-23 and missed the SECT. Momentum, or the perception that there is momentum, is huge for a program. Stringing together a couple of years like that will kill recruiting.

No doubt, It is really difficult to imagine DVH having another season like that unless he truly doesn't care anymore. This whole conversation would be different if we had a bad season last year.

Taking the SECt lightly is one thing, failing to be invited is another.

I'm told just being there is good enough, can't expect a man given his every desire, often times being served befor revenue producing sports to produce anything more than participation ribbons.
