We will need Weathersby healthy, but I think the difference between this year and last year is Bama won't be able to predict every play.

o line is beat up, but our offense is allowed to throw to check downs now

Boutte against Allen will be a good matchup. Interior linemen at LSU are superior: Clapp, Pocic, Bouttee. 2 potential all americans there.
The tackles are weak: KJ Malone and Teuhema, but KJ has played pretty well all year.

honestly worried about pocic being too tall to get leverage on the DTs.
its been his worst game the last 2 seasons

That is a huge part. Bama's secondary did not respect and had no reason to respect our passing game.
By the time LF7 got to the LOS, safeties were tee'ing off.

They suck. No, seriously. They have gotten better though

Agree. LF's lack of production was due more to Mile/Camron stupidity and Harris' poor play than it was a poor offensive line or LF.

Eh, the Alabama front 4 whipped the shite out of the LSU OL. Predictable play calling definitely didn't help, but LSU lost all of their 1 on 1 matchups.

Yep, and since Teuhema is one of our worst pass blockers, it seems only logical to put Pocic out there. I guess we will see, idk what to think of our o-line, but I'm not confident in them at all.

Teuhema is the fourth guard I mentioned who has been rotated out there with mixed results. On a couple of LF's long runs he has his man on skates 10 yards downfield, but in the passing game he just straight up whiffed. KJ has his good days and his bad days.
Like I said I hope Etling's ability to hit the quick slant, play action, and our surprisingly effective screen game, somewhat mitigates the Bama pass rush. If we try to just take 5 step drops and sit in the pocket Etling is gonna be on his arse all night, but that hard headed shite hopefully left with Cam.

That was indeed savage. It seemed worse in person that it probably did on TV.
I'm hoping that LSU's OL looks long and hard at last year's film/tape,etc. Yes,Alabama is as dominating as ever. But I know LSU's boys have some pride and great day in the morning......

Eventually any OL will lose his one on one matchup if you ask him to block for too long. That's hopefully a big difference this time around. If the ball leaves the QBs hand before anyone touches him, the OL "wins" even if they didn't get the push. Playcalling has been huge in this matchup, Gerald Hawkins and Vadal Alexander got "whipped" last year but looked great when Mett was under center as true freshmen.

I'm concerned about our pass protection vs that front 7, especially since we run a ton of play action now.

Gotta think LSU will try the McElwain 2011 BCS Game approach of short quick passes to open up the run, then pick times to take PA shots down field. Puts a lot on Etlings shoulders, but I think it is the best gameplan.
Can't just run PA go routes randomly or Etling will die.

If he got to the LOS. There were quite a few times he didn't.

This is pretty much what Ensminger has been doing. We have gotten much better at dialing up short high percentage throws and spreading it around to different receivers

Seems like maybe Pocic should be playing tackle for LSU if there's anyone else that could get the job done at center.

Honestly we aren't any better up front than last year. Just watch the Ole Miss game they got significant pressure at times. Now the play calling and formation has helped to not make it so obvious when we are about to pass or run, but I fully expect Bama's front to give this Oline fits. For LSU to win they will have to play their best game to date.

We're finally close to full strength. We've had nagging injuries since August.
We're opening big holes in the run game, but we have trouble with pass protection.
If we can't protect Etling, it will be a long night.
Would not be surprised to see a low-scoring defensive struggle.
