I'm a big proponent of learning through experience. Failure often is better than success in teaching that lesson.

It's hard to regroup from a failure without change, so this may be his chance to take lessons learned and make it work.

I don't think he can be successful anytime soon. Down the road? Perhaps.

I think he has a lot of positive attributes contrary to what some idiots think....their outbursts only show how much they dont know or have learned.
1) OL recruiting? The downfall started with Urban in that regard and although offensively we could have done much better recruiting...several things out of his control worked against him. First OC was Hamburger Charlie and he had to sit on a cooler during practices because of his weight. He did recruit a highly touted OG who threw his life away and decided to steal a scooter....plus we had several medical issues with OL that required they give up football. Etc etc.
2) WR coach situations went south and we were a turnstile and the last year there wasnt really even a WR coach. It isnt Booms fault that our joker of WR coach got caught with hand in cookie jar just before 2014 season.
3) He simply hired the wrong OCs.
4) No one can point to his record in 2011 when he inherited a shitfest in the locker room that was the result of Urban having favorites and a bunch of other crap. We did go to bowl game and that happened even though starting Jr QB was injured and out for about 4 games and we were forced to use true frosh QBs who pooped their pants. 2012 we were a BCS team, 2013 was an unmitigated disaster because of unbelievable injuries left and right. Lost starting QB four games into season, then after 3 games later lost 2nd string QB for season and then resorted to using 3rd string QB who had hard time throwing ball past the line of scrimmage...for the USC game in Brice Williams we had a total of 59 players get on the plane and four of them were walk on special team guys. Even with third string QB we were in the game til late 3rd qt. 2014 was not good but we still were a few plays from being very good actually. Mizzou & Bama were the only two really bad games. We had game cancelled because of weather, then we did beat UT (which we did every year under Boom), lost to LSU when our board handed TE let end pass slip through his hands that would have won the game.....I mean right in his hands. We slobber knockered UGA for 418 rushing yds, lost to USC when we had a FG & punt blocked in the last 5 minutes of the game and had the girls school on the ropes after we picked off 4 passes in first quarter and were inside their 10 yd line leading 9-0 and board handed TE let pass richocet and it was picked and taken back to the house....but we still only lost by 4 points.
5) His defenses have been stout and even this year we are being helped a LOT by his defense.

In summation Boom may be a little bad luck stricken...but maybe he has used up all that bad mojo. He didnt blowup hardly at all btw during 2014 season. He is intense and doesnt like to lose.

Id say he needs to recruit as heavely on the ither side if the ball as he does on defense. Gators are thin as hell on the oline and our QBs are not good either. He brought in some good RBs they just didnt have a line to run behind.

And yes he needs to pick an offense and stick to it.

I don't think he can either. I'm interested also to see how effective a recruiter he is a USCe. We hear how great he is at recruiting, but let's look at the places he's recruiting recently: UF, Texas, LSU, Auburn. These schools have ALL recruited well regardless who in the hell is coach, so is he a great recruiter or is it the schools? Maybe some of both?

I think in general he just isn't a good CEO type. Most people in the world aren't, though. I just don't think he's capable of putting the whole package together. Guy has a gigantic ego which seems to keep him from making changes needed to succeed. He just keeps trying to bash the square peg into the round hole b/c that's "his way" goddammit and it's gonna work...

My question is do you believe Muschamp can ever be successful as a head coach in the SEC. He obviously didn't get the job done when he was at Florida but the defense was great. Could he be a good head coach with a great OC controlling the offense? He seems to be a good recruiter but Florida recruits itself to a certain extent. How was he at running the Florida program off the field? I'm of the opinion that with a good OC, he could become a great HC down the road.

I think he could... If he gets the right OC and gives full control to them. But not at SC. UF was his best shot at doing well in the SEC.

He was terrible at building olines. One year he had this bright idea to get nothing but tackles and no guards or centers.

Every single time we recruited an athlete Boom had to try have m on defense first-- didn't matter how good the guy had been at offense in HS, a strong 4th string DB is way more important than a top flute WR.

Forget the OC issue. His roster management was poor. We were thin at linebacker this year. We had a patchwork offensive line. Our most productive receiver this year was a guy he didn't even recruit.

He runs a clean program and runs a good defensive scheme, but I think he is a much better coordinator. Even if he nabs a top offensive mind, he will have to eventually replace that guy. He couldn't find a good one at UF in 3 attempts. Pretty risky track record if SCAR is serious about building upon what Spurrier did for the program.

Recruited Derrick Henry as a LB.
