Question for Florida fans

My question is do you believe Muschamp can ever be successful as a head coach in the SEC. He obviously didn't get the job done when he was at Florida but the defense was great. Could he be a good head coach with a great OC controlling the offense? He seems to be a good recruiter but Florida recruits itself to a certain extent. How was he at running the Florida program off the field? I'm of the opinion that with a good OC, he could become a great HC down the road.

If he could get a great OC he could have a few solid years until his terrible roster management caught up to him.

He can build a good defensive roster. Outside of that he's not really all that good.

What was his main problem? His roster management on offense?

Yes on one condition. The offense is not something that is meant to keep his defense fresh but to score TDs.

More like recruiting on offense. Lack of recruiting on OL and just an overall HUGE amount of offensive recruiting busts.

If he hired an assistant Head coach to limit his ability to play field position games

Obviously, I'm not a Florida fan, but in this day and age I think we are all to quick to make snap judgements about a coach's ability after their very first stint at the head of the program.
Guess what? Men learn. They adapt. They better themselves. Now, Muschamp may very well shite the bed in Columbia, but the optimist in me hopes that Boom has been able to reflect upon and understand the mistakes he made at Florida, and will use that learning experience to further himself.

Agree with a lot of that but how much harder will it be to get the players he wants for his team at South Carolina. Not saying that South Carolina can't get great recruits but it is much harder than being at Florida. We will really see how good his recruiting skills are if he takes the South Carolina job.

Not recruiting proper numbers on the OL (Injuries didn't help either) and not bringing in elite playmakers on the outside (which should be relatively easy at UF).
He also struggled finding coaches that 'fit'. I mean, that first staff looked elite on paper coming in.

It's possible but I wouldn't want to be the fan of the team trying to see if he changed. He showed last weekend he still has no self control on the field.
I don't get how people say he had a great defense at UF and did a great job of getting talent on the defense . I don't think he has done any better then the DCs at UF before him.

This is a big issue, he might get a pass if he was winning but he was losing and acting like an idiot at times. I wonder if he could ever change in that regard.

He needs to pick an offensive philosophy and stick to it.

I mean he has a philosophy-- he only shifted for like 4 games at the start of his last year when he was trying not to get fired.

He needs to actually hire a OC that runs a ground and pound offense , it would have made him a lot better at UF . All 3 OCs he hired were high scoring OCs not ball control. And he needs to leave the OC alone. But all this may not work at USCe because he won't have the elite talent.

He would have to swallow a lot of humble pie, and bring in someone who will teach him who to recruit/manage/call an offense. Someone he would have to stay completely out of their way.
In addition, he would have to learn to manage his emotions during games. You can't have a HC acting like he does in the sideline.
I think he is a good person, who ran a clean program, and was great at recruiting/managing defense. But he is absolutely atrocious evaluating talent, recruiting, and finding someone that can do a great job on offense.
A lot would have to happen for him to be a HC, so I'm leaning to think he will not be successful. But like someone else said, people change, and learn. There is a small possibility that he could learn.

Champ could become a decent coach, imo. His players played hard for him, he has to change his mindset on 2 yards and a cloud of dust and completely give his offense over to a competent OC, without meddling.
