What are you all expecting out of the basketball squad this year? Make-or-break for Martin?

Potential NIT glory like the Balkman days?

Great player surrounded by a bad team. Now we have a number of good players making us a good team.

I think we should look and play like an NCAA bubble type team. The NIT at the very least (which is a marked improvement from our teams for a while now) or Martin might be in trouble.

Martin was in about a big a hole as you can get in in terms of talent in his first couple of years and last year we had a number of injuries and suspensions, but still finished the season strong.

Got a couple of good recruits coming in and retain some seniority from last year. I think 20+ wins is reasonable.

I know preseason picks can be a terrible indicator, but I think we were picked to finish 11th or worse in the conference over the last 4-5 years. We got picked 7th. So I think, if nothing else, that is an indicator that the pure talent is better than it has been in a while.

Again, not world beaters, but solid.

NIT is the floor. NCAA bubble is realistic.

Definitely not make or break for Martin ... we'll be greatly improved. He gets the most from his players and he's upped the talent level tremendously since he arrived.

South Carolina basketball led the country in overall basketball attendance last year ... men and women combined. We're basketball fans too - and Martin is making the most of it. We've got excellent facilities. We've got in state talent. He's gonna do fine.

Seventh Woods (subliminal future suggestion)

Men's Team

I'm with everyone else. We're minimum New York bound NIT but maybe we make it to the dance this year. Obviously we're on that cusp in the eyes of the writers, who picked us to finish 7th. We'll be a tough out this season.

Women's Team

SEC Championship, Final Four, National Championship ... that's our goal.

That would be a good year for us and would be another step in the right direction.

We should have a very good backcourt this year, especially with the influx of new talent to compliment what we have returning plus we're moving Carrera out to the 2-3 and he is a beast crashing the boards but is also an excellent passer and can hit the three for a bigger guy.

But where we're really gonna be improved, where we're really gonna surprise some people, is down low. We return some big guys who Martin and his staff have coached-up plus we bring in the Silva kid who is going to eventually be very very good IMHO. Very athletic big kid who goes to the board and floats in the paint, can make all the low post shots ... we're going to be so improved there. And honestly, we've been very physical and crash the boards hard under Martin - we out-rebounded a lot of bigger teams last year.

This year we're going to be much closer to putting a complete package on the court.

And we should regain some of our old home court advantage this year. Season ticket sales are way up - fans are excited. I'm looking forward to it.

We haven't made the NCAA tourney since 2004 and we haven't won an NCAA tourney game since 1973. I'll believe it when I see it.

I would probably put Vandy at 4, USC and Auburn at 5 and 6.

Make or break? Heck, I feel like he's just now getting things going.
