Saban needs something other than that horrible statue in front of the stadium.

Colonial Drive is the future Nick Saban drive. No stadium name. And naming a field for someone, and then a stadium for someone else is stupid and confusing

Mal Moore should go on the field's name before Saban... at least I think.

But seriously, I think he's done enough to replace Denny's name.

The hell? Denny did more for Alabama football than anyone in our program's history - Bryant included. In 1912, when he took over as President of The University of Alabama, the university's enrollment was among the lowest in the country. When he retired in 1936 the enrollment had grown by leaps and bounds. He's the one who got Alabama football on the map, hiring the likes of Xen Scott, Wallace Wade, and Frank Thomas. The man realized football could be used to increase enrollment and bring untold quantities of cash to the school.

No. Denny is known for being the driving force behind making the football program so big. We began playing football 70 years after the University opened

It's not that complicated.

I know, but it's still stupid. At least Auburn doesn't have a third name like Florida (well, I suppose Auburn has "the Jungle" but that one really didn't catch on)

I think a plaid carpet colored navy blue, orange, and purple for Alabama fans to walk on... the same as Saban did would be pretty cool.

People couldn't handle the jungle.

No different than naming locker rooms, skyboxes, weight rooms etc. Just another way to honor and remember a person.

If sentimental attachment is the measure, how about Bryant Saban Updyke?

He already has the athletic complex, right? Actually, it would make more sense to name the field after him and rename the athletic complex after Saban.

Bryant loved the program.
Updyke is a lunatic.
Saban is not sentimental about the program.

Of the three, I suppose you could say Bryant Updyke stadium... At least Updyke THINKS he loves Bama. His is more insane obsession though.
