You clearly haven't been paying attention and your bias against Baylor is preventing you from thinking critically.

Baylor built a small stadium because if they didn't they'd need two tarps instead of one to cover the bald spots.

Show me a comparable school to TAMU that recently constructed major (and I mean major) renovations yet decreased capacity or kept it the same.

Washington.

They just spent about $280 million and reduced capacity by more than 2,000.

incorrect. you have more perspectives at the game than on TV. what you may have meant is that at home you get instant replay. at home you get what the networks show you, fine. at the game you can isolate a player or unit thereby enabling you to see what's really happening. of course, if you are wasted and you really need to see 4 or replays in slo mo for your brain to register things then ok, you are right.

I think a big thing is hotel's jacking up prices and making you stay Saturday and Sunday night. Combine that with eating out and gas, and you have a very expensive weekend. Ticket prices are just a portion of the problem.

With that said, there is no excuse for student sections to not be filled up.

So you're saying NFL stadiums are smaller because they already make enough money. That doesn't make sense, if adding seats meant they would make significantly more money then they would do it. NFL teams aren't in the business of providing extra leg room.

I am saying they provide more area per person in seating. That is why they charge more money for tickets and have smaller capacity stadiums.

The stadiums are not smaller, just the capacity. in many cases the stadiums are larger than CFB.

NFL teams make much more per person at a game, however they make much more not on attendance but from merchandising and licensing and TV revenue. They dont need nor want capacities like the top NCAA stadiums

That is beyond ridiculous. At the game you have your own two eyes and that's it. At home you have your eyes, plus dozens of other sets of "eyes" provided by all the cameras. Are you saying you can't isolate a player or unit unless you're at the game? That would make reporting on football games next to impossible, because sports reporters can't physically be at every game. They rely on television.

Let's figure this out. If one of the problems with attendance is season ticket holders not attending games, and those willing to be season ticket holders is in high supply, then we need to filter out those not attending. We need to place season ticket holders who have poor attendance in the back of the line come next season.

you may have come with a logical solution in your mind but that ain't the way it works man. you try telling the 75 yr old guy who donates tens of thousands a year or even more that he goes to the back of the line. REALITY trumps an idea based on math and logic. people are human beings not robots. many of said people decide late on attending or not.

Alabama does fine in attendance except for the scrub non-conference games, all the conference games are fully attended, at least at kick off.

I wrote my senior paper about the effects of HD Tv and the internet on football attendance. Lots of people prefer to stay home because if you're at the game you only get one perspective. If you watch on tv they have dozens of camera angles.

That's moronic. While that may be a benefit, it isn't the driving factor. Cost is the biggest factor. Convenience is the next. Until Athletic departments make an effort to address those two facts, nothing will change. Even if television was magically limited to one viewing angle.

HDTV is probably the cause.

Large, high quality HD tv's and broadcast have really only been the norm for the past 5-10 years, we're just starting to feel their effects.

The ticket and concession prices being jacked up so much hasn't helped either.

For anything but the huge games, staying at home is a better and cheaper experience.

The issue here is, UF vs. LSU is a huge game, no excuses for that one.

It's moronic huh? You should call all the people I surveyed and tell them their opinions are wrong.

at least thats what they tell you. its funny that they say it is always full capacity even though on the student side its several thousand less than full every game

It is moronic. Your survey was framed poorly.

I didn't use a single criterion, that was one example.

I feel bad for LSU it must be tough. I know USC sold out the games for Kent and Vandy even.

There were enough people in the stadium to fill the seats, problem is at any given time 25K were waiting in line for water.

From what I am seeing on the Internet Lsu still has 92000+ people at their games. Am I looking at something wrong?

The tickets are sold and the waiting list is a mile long. People just aren't showing up and in LSU's case I blame the administration for making gamedays more of a pain in the arse than ever before. That and a bunch of fossils and corporations that buy blocks of tickets and don't attend.

That is paid. That's the point of the thread. The athletic dept is getting the money so why would they change the bullshite policies that are pissing people off and causing them not to show up on gameday. Read my earlier post.
