Was it just me or was anyone else wondering why the hell he didn't just pick the ball up and run for the touchdown. No OSU players were ever near him. Obviously he just wanted to get the ball back to Mallet, but I would be trucking it for the endzone.

He is a true freshman. I am sure he shite his pants and just fell on it. I dont blame him although it would have been nice.

We had a lot of other missed opportunities.

I was wondering the same thing! Kind of like when Garcia decided to throw the ball through the goal post during the Alabama vs. South Carolina game this year...except the fact that they were winning...but STILL! Some plays or..lack thereof..amaze me

he did the right thing. If he would have tried to pick it up, but then dropped it, and OSU recovered it and ran it for a first down, everyone would be saying "why didn't he just fall on the ball?" That's what you are SUPPOSED to do- secure possession.
Who would have thought, with Arkansas' momentum and ball movement, that they could't score from the 19 with over a minute to go?

hindsight is 20/20 and we were 92% in the redzone scoring for the year

Normally its a dumbass that DOESN'T jump on the ball and tries to pick it up for the touchdown that ruins a game for a team. This kid had good instincts of what you should normally do... but cost rky a BCS win.

But it was a blocked punt, not a normal play. There is no risk because even if he missed on the recovery and Ohio State fell on it, it still would have been Arkansas ball.

well the difference here is that its a 4th down so even if OSU recovers it, they would still have to run all the way back to the first down marker to keep from giving the ball back to Arky. Thats a situation where the kid will be more aware of the circumstances as he gets older and more experience.

ETA: damn you beat me to it lol
