I like Ed O. He seems tailor made for LSU.

And I've never seen a coach who so obviously wanted a job. His agent must have been going crazy

His passion for LSU is refreshing

will say this, as an LSU fan it is refreshing to hear a coach who is able to speak coherently,

Ehh, his tone makes things he says inaudible at times. Just mumbling noises.

He hasn't been successful as a HC. I think it's completely different to be a HC than an intern head coach.

Definitely different than being an interim* coach. I don't think anyone is denying his inability as an Xs and Os coach, but I think he'll be a great face of the program and put the right people in place to make up for his weaknesses. His biggest long term challenge is going to be replacing coordinators when they leave for HC jobs, given that we have the success we're hoping for the next couple years.

And yeah he can't help his tone and accent. I'd much rather listen to him than Miles... that guy would string together 10 or 15 irrelevant words in an interview and leave you thinking "what is he even talking about"

He is.

I believe he will be much better than he was at Ole Miss. But what does that really look like? 8-4 or 9-3 is much better than 3-9. Is he really the guy who can take us where want to go? I have my doubts.

I'm prepped for our demise, but how fricking hilarious would it be if the worst coach in our arch rival's history ran the conference? It's going to be entertaining as hell if O starts winning big early and often.

I'll say this: O knows football. this isn't biomedical engineering. how he can manage the program is what'll make or break him. hopefully he just consults pete carroll every day

that's understandable. some of those questions might be answered early in the season.

Passion and an accent does not equal a lack of intelligence. But yes, his years of experience have been shining since at least season. I expect very good things from him.

Love coach O's passion.. if your not pulling for a guy like that (minus when they play your team) then your prolly just a jack arse that no one likes. Hard not to pull for him to succeed at his dream job. He loves Lsu like no other.

Originally I was not happy with the hire, but so many gumps talk so much shite about him that now I am pulling for the guy.

Prove em wrong Coach O!

Sad, you're too obsessed with everything Alabama. Just the thought of them making fun of something will make you get behind it.

It's a lot harder to win as an interim coach. Someone posted the records on the "coaching changes" board when it existed. It was not pretty.

When a coach takes over as an interim it is usually because the previous coach has been fired. Fired because they have not been winning. USC was 4-7 in their previous 11 games before O, LSU was 4-5 in Les' last 9 games. O went 5-2 at USC and 6-2 at LSU. Before O, LSU's wins included a 19-7 win against A&M at home, Jacksonville St and a 3 point win at home against Miss ST. Losses included blowouts by Arkansas and Ole Miss.

It is unheard of for an interim coach to take over not one but two P5 programs on losing skids and turn them into winners.

At USC that was with the exact same staff, admin and players. At LSU not only was Les gone but O fired the OC. He went 6-2 with a TE's coach running the offense.

you're not wrong, but a good argument can be made that Ed's strengths set him up to be a better interim head coach than a permanent one.

If LSU wins the SEC I expect Coach O to rip his shirt off on the sideline.

The #1 option is to get a group together and rent a villa at Old Waverly

Lawyers from my office like to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn on Hwy 12 for a place in Starkville.

My folks still have a place at Starkville CC, so we may have a spare bedroom if you get stranded (dependent on the score of the game ,of course )
