Because chavis will turn our defense from awful to average, potentially above average and we return starters at key positions in a high scoring offense.
Was not aware Chavis was a magician, in that case you are absolutely right. Texas a&m tier two and LSU is tier 3. See you next season buddy.

Tier 2 is based on defensive improvement upside.
Are you fricking crazy?! Texas a&m has more of an upside than LSU defensively?
No, not at all!
But the lack of offense doesn't make up for a great D, which has been evident the past few years in LSU football. I still think LSU has a top notch D regardless of DC hire due to all the talent.

You need to look at Arkansas record. Their wins were not impressive. People really jumping the gun on them.
I still think Bama is the best the SEC has, but the gap is getting closer.

All that said Alabama probably wins it again god dammit

who's your quarterback? the back ups cant be very impressive if bo wallace never sat on a bench

The ags are high off their DC hire and they should be. I have no doubt Chavis will improve heir defense over last year. But if they think LSU won't get a good DC and still have a better defense than theirs they are out of their mind. The talent level alone will hold LSU above them next year. After that - well, I hope O is on board as DL coach to recruit. If that happens, LOfreakingL at aTm having a better defense than LSU any time soon.

This is my main point. The door is open. I'm not sure who all Arkansas is losing, but they keep up their run game and defense, I think they have as good as shot as any at winning the title.

How can aTm be Tier 2 when they never have beaten LSU who you put as Tier 3 since their arrival to the SEC?

Shitty offense + great D < Great offense + average D.

Average offense + great D got us a Natty. O can only improve from this year
While Chavis will def improve your D, your going to need some key recruits to really improve.

there's a huge difference between "reshuffling" and a temporary rise or fall.
you don't really know what effect losing chavis will have on LSU now do you? it very well could even result in our D improving. he should help y'all tho as y'all were the worse in the conference. but I can assure you, chvis needs top of the line recruits for his system to work. I can also assure you that chavis system has been figured out by more than one coach.
lastly, it is admirable how you aggies continue to spin your program as top notch. sure, sumlin dodged another bullet and once again, gives y'all hope. chances are, he will disappoint you once again. your "high powered" offense runs out of power a lot; every year.

Yes the year we lost 3 round picks and a heisman winning QB, our offense had its ups and downs.
As far as reshuffling, A&M with a great D will contend on a yearly basis. I'm not saying LSU will not, but it seems highly unlikely in 2015 unless y'all can score some points. As far as temporary rise and fall, the landmass schools are a perfect example of the rise in 2014 and I think 2014-15 LSU will be a good example of the temporary fall.

With the Aggies it is a simple question: Will Chavis be able to field a decent defense?
They don't have to be great, they just have to be decent. If Chavis can manage that then A&M will be very dangerous in the future. The Landmass schools have to regroup from crushing losses in the bowls and go back to the drawing board I would think.
Auburn is looking to upgrade their defense but it remains to be seen if they can mix a stout defense and the HUNH. They will have some issues throwing the ball if they can't develop better QB play and Gus has a tendency to out think himself in big games.
Bama needs to take a serious look in the mirror. Their defense was pushed around at will by OSU and their offense seems to be torn between being a spread finesse team or a power running team. They have to find an identity on offense.
LSU has to replace Chavis, who they assure us is a talentless hack, and upgrade their offense big time. Chavis won't be easy to replace I fear and they desperately need not only a new QB but some playmakers that aren't their stable of running backs.
Arkansas will still be rebuilding next year. I like our scheme and the direction we seem to be heading in, but we are woefully thin across the board (well Bert isn't woefully thin I grant you) and our OC's playcalling in tight games may continue to haunt us. I don't think we are there yet but the future looks brighter then it did a few years ago.

Why is A&M relevant? You have not won anything.

State will not finish last of Dak returns. He will be the most experienced returning QB and a potential Heisman candidate who gets his main receiving targets back along with a talented stable of RBs.
If we can replace our OL with decent guys we will be good again.
