Time for a reshuffling of the SEC West.

LSU's defense has held them in the top tier of the West for decades. However, in this era of college football, shut down defenses are almost obsolete with the high power and diverse range of offenses in the FBS today. To be able to contend, you need a competent offense, which LSU does not have. I do not think LSU will have a huge drop off on defense but it will be interesting to see how their new DC compares to Chavis.

Alabama will always contend while they have NS, but until they learn how to stop DT QB's, the door is open.

Ole Miss and Mississippi State won't be cakewalks but considering they couldn't win the division (or their bowl games) with their best team in years, I don't see them competing for the title. Especially state with all the graduating seniors.

Arkansas is currently the best team in the West. Stout defense and dominant running game, with a functional QB that can pass when needed. They will be a player for the title next year, I would argue the favorite.

Auburn and A&M both have high powered offenses, but awful defenses besides having defensive talent. If the new big name DC's can turn these units around, both will be contenders.

2015 west predictions:
Tier 1 - Alabama, Arkansas
Tier 2 - Auburn, A&M (defenses being the wildcard)
Tier 3 - LSU, OM
Tier 4 - state

Note: if A&M defense doesn't show considerable improvement, we will once again finish near the bottom

How can aTm be Tier 2 when they never have beaten LSU who you put as Tier 3 since their arrival to the SEC?

LSU still doesn't have a QB and is replacing their DC.

A&M's defense is still shitty so is AU's d. AU loses Marshall, CAP, and Sammie.

State, OM, and Bama might all be replacing QBs.

Arkansas is losing their best defensive players and their QB isn't very good still.

All that said Alabama probably wins it again god dammit

Everyone was putting OM above A&M last off season, whom they had never beaten. This isn't about last season, this is about next season.

You need to look at Arkansas record. Their wins were not impressive. People really jumping the gun on them.

Arkansas wont finish second. They are still one of the least talented teams in the west, they have one of the more difficult schedules next year, and their supposed turnaround came in home games or against teams that already sucked

Who cares? Because you beat an unranked West Virginia team without their starting QB doesn't mean that you have elevated your program

Tier 2 is based on defensive improvement upside. We return quite a few starters; most importantly QB and our offense began hitting its stride after benching Kenny Hill. If we can hold teams to under 24 points, I'm confident our offense can put us in a position to win every game. However, defense is still a major wildcard.

So what the hell is this dumb arse tier ranking based off if last year is not a consideration? Please finish this sentence without the basis being a reference of this past season.

Texas a&m will be a tier two team in 2015 because....

No, Johnny and the SEC move elevated our program. We will see if Chavis will take it to the next level

Are you fricking crazy?! Texas a&m has more of an upside than LSU defensively?

Because chavis will turn our defense from awful to average, potentially above average and we return starters at key positions in a high scoring offense.
