None of this matters when you give up a lot of TDs and yards. I would take zero TDs allowed as under 150 passing over passes defended any day.

First of all, nothing in the history of this game indicates that this will be a "shootout".

Second of all, it will be raining all day making a shootout even less likely.

So, Bama leads the SEC in most statistics vs. the pass, but the secondary is suspect. Got it. LSU reasoning.

How did the secondary do against your best opponent? I have watched Bama as much as LSU to know how much they improved since that game but that's not an easy issue to fix in a Saban style defense

Ok.

Bama 10 TD passes allowed, 12 interceptions
LSU 14 TD passes allowed, 7 interceptions

Bama 4 Rushing TDs allowed
LSU 5 Rushing TDs allowed

Looks pretty even to me.

Oh, and inb4:
LSU 7-0
Bama 7-1

Bama has given up 23 more yards passing than LSU, against 30 more attempts. LSU has given up 14 TD's. Bama 10.

Bama's pass defense leads the SEC in completion percentage, yards per attempt, interceptions, and passer rating.

Something nobody has mentioned... rain is projected for Saturday. That might make passing more difficult for both teams. It could very well be a ground and pound type of game.

That would be against Ole Miss, clearly a loss.

I would argue that that game would not count against the D nearly as much as special teams. But that's just me and clearly logic does not apply.

For the arguement, though:
Ole miss had 10.3 ypc vs 5.0 ypc average against the rest of the schedule. Outlier?
Ole miss had 2.9 ypc against the D.

Again, if you want to fault the D that's your choice and if that is the case, yes, it is not easy to fix in Saban's defense.
I argue that we gave them short fields several times and they were good enough with the pass to take advantage of it.

Who? Ole Miss? 18/33 for 341 and 3 TD's. Do you think LSU can replicate that? I mean, without the 73 yard fluke bounce play they're 17/33 for 268 yards and 2 TD's. Not bad, but I'd say Ole Miss is a pretty good passing team and Bama's freshman DB's were still learning. Is LSU going to pass 33 times at a 52% completion rate too?

A lot of people, myself included, thought Bama's secondary was improving towards the end of the year then Ohio State happened. This year it was the same story with Ole Miss. The key to beating Bama every year coincidentally is passing the ball more than 25 times. Alabama cannot be beat by the run game no matter how good the defense is. They can however be beat through the air and when that's the case for any team, the secondary is a liability. The last time Alabama's secondary was good was 2011

Yes, I believe Ole Miss is going to shite all over LSU's secondary like they did to Alabamas.

OK, let's just throw out all evidence to the contrary and go with that. Can't wait to see Harris airing it out.

No, it was just you.

Wrong again. If you want to believe it, that's your choice. I can't argue that we lost, but I can argue that the loss was NOT on the D.

Whoa.

Yep.

Disagree and I believe I've already demonstrated that.

All comes down to the D-Line. Secondary trends with that. And Bama's is very good. So is LSU's.

I like LSU in any scenario, I just think LSU is the better team until proven otherwise.

The reason our pass D is better this year is because of the pass rush. We have had every QB we faced running for his life.

That's one reason. But, also having safeties who are better in coverage, and some outstanding young talent at CB.
