I'm from Florida man. Lets be honest Florida is the one state that, yes is geographically in the south, but everyone around the US views Florida as its own state seperate from the south. There are a ton of Yankee Snow-birds in Florida. And Gainesville is in the armpit of Florida that has arguably the trashiest people in the entire south around it. Oxford makes Gainesville look like a cracked-out trailor park.

If you are from Florida we are glad you relocated. The reason there are so many people from the north here is because Florida has something to offer. Warm temps year round, beautiful beaches within hours no matter what part of the state you live. Who in their right mind would want to work their entire life and retire to mississippi? As far as the area around Gainesville and the city itself. You're right, not much to brag about. It's Florida. We don't have mountains etc and there isn't much we can do about that.
As far as the history of your racist university's nickname, I would suggest you use google (it's your friend) and you will see that your university has acknowledged that the use of ole miss is offensive and racist. So kindly go frick yourself while you peruse your university's history.

And I haven't "relocated" I'm still a Florida resident even tho I live out of state. I go back all the time. Speak for yourself (the one guy on the internet who speaks for the whole state of Florida, and says "we're glad you relocated'), I have tons of freinds, family, and connections in Florida that are alot less ignorant than you, who want me to come back. And to actually agree with you, I like the State of Florida more than the state of Mississippi (different lifestyle, but great things about both states, depending on what you're looking for), but Oxford kicks Gainesvilles arse, and if you disagree, you should start a thread about it and see how the rant feels about Oxford vs Gainesville. I dont ignore what my schools history is, but the nickname "Ole Miss" doesnt derive from racism. Whats wrong with my username. I Chose it when Johnny football was popular and playing in the SEC. Just called myself JohnnyRebel because of that. quote:
