If only college QBs could all learn to play QB at LSU, the NFL would be better off.

They would be able to adapt better that's for sure. What has your boy Johnny done in the NFL so far? What was Tebow able to do? Mett actually looked like an NFL QB at times last year.

The entire history of the NFL is a slow copying of college football concepts. This sounds like a 72 year old man who has always done it this way and this is the only way to do it, dadgumit.

Cam Newton won rookie of the year and made pro bowl twice in the first 3 year of his career. In the history of the NFL, only one QB threw for more yards than Cam Newton in his first 2 years of being in the NFL.

NFL coaches are lazy and useless. They don't want to change with the game or do any work, so they make excuses.

The NFL has become unwatchable.

the NFL is struggling to put together more than 10 above average guys at the position
The number of above-average qbs will always be the same. Nothing can change that.

You mean standing in shotgun clapping hands instead of a cadence running the read option is hurting the NFL......lol

This is old news, but I guess moron organizations like the Cleveland Browns will still draft the Allstar high school quarterbacks.

Polian would also use Saban as a model all others should follow, yet the midge has never produced even one successful NFL quarterback

His comments were brushed off by most on this board. But he basically said that college football (offensively) has become really bad fundamentally.

Probably why LSU players excell in the Pros. They know the fundamentals and come from an NFL style offense.
Your players know how to run, they know how to block, they've been exposed to the basic fundamentals. Making progressions & reading defenses isn't a foreign concept them. They are better prepared for the next level.

What major college programs run a "spread" offense? I think the term often times gets applied to teams that run hurry up offenses but still operate on power running principals...which is not what a "spread" offense is.

I would consider Florida back in the HBC's days to be a true spread offense. You know, spread the defense and pass the ball a ton.

This reminds me of the article back in May where Tom Cable said spread offenses in college are a disservice to players.

His comments were brushed off by most on this board. But he basically said that college football (offensively) has become really bad fundamentally.

Sure. I think people took issue with the "disservice" term. Spread offenses are a disservice to NFL coaches.

Agreed. After watching Auburn and the other high potent offenses in CFB, watching NFL offenses is downright boring.

Wow Phan you've come out with guns blazing today.

Are you just extra irritated because it's Saban's SEC Media day?

Well good thing then that College Football doesn't exists solely for the benefit of the NFL.

Exactly. frick those guys. Baseball has a minor league system. The NBA has a development league. The NFL uses college football as a no cost development league for this game. THEN, they run the risk of effecting the eligibility of a mature athletes with their agent bullshite.

The NFL should start a development league and stay the frick away from college football. frick those guys.

Agreed.

Or, just learn to adapt to the changing game.

Obvious statement is obvious. We've known this for years.

These two things couldn't be more different.

NBA personnel bitch about guys who played in a 2-3 zone in college all the time.

Yeah the pro style offenses obviously prepare quarterbacks for the NFl. Just look at all the great NFL quarterbacks Georgia, Alabama, and LSU have produced in recent years.

That's the handful of guys that can transition from college to the NBA. Between the developmental league and international opportunities, the NBA doesn't rely on college basketball to train it's athletes.

Brady and Rogers are the 2 biggest stories on that front but they're exceptions not the norm.
