Don't know about Mizzou but I would hazard a guess that Kentucky's culture is as prototypically souther, if not more southern, than Georgia, especially with all the Yankees moving into Atlanta and it suburbs over the past 20-30 years.

Really? Kentucky sent more troops to fight for the Rebs than all but 3-4 other states, certainly more than Miss (mainly due to having a much larger population than Miss, btw)
FYI, Kentucky remained under Union occupation for most of the war because the totally incompetent generals in the western theatre didn't know which end was up as far as strategy and leading armies.

Pretty sure he was messing with you. And KY is not more or less Southern than GA. It's just different. All of us have our different state identities, cultural idiosyncrasies, etc. I don't get this whole "more southern than thou" bullshite some people on here have. We have a lot more in common than we don't, so let's jistleave it at that.

Kentucky's southernness is the most authentic imo. I guess you have two kind of distinct southern cultures anyway deriving from the original settlers in Virginia and South Carolina respectively. As far as the culture of the upper south passed down from the colonial Virginians, we have maintained that the most, even more so than Virginia which has so many Yankee migrants now it is more middle Atlantic than southern.
