So much wrong here it's hard to decide where to start.

1. At the time the game was originally scheduled, LSU still had a chance to win the West, IF the game was played. We only had 1 SEC loss and still had Alabama left to play. Without this game, even a win over Alabama would not put us in position to win the West because the best we could finish was 6-1 and Alabama would be 7-1 even if they lost to us. Only by playing the game did we have a chance.

2. Florida initially did not have to play the game to win the East. UF had one SEC loss and UT had two, so Foley figured if they didn't lose any more SEC games, they would win the East whether they were 6-1 or 7-1, as either would be better than UT's 6-2 best case finish. It was only after the commissioner made up a rule that wasn't actually a rule (that teams must play all conference games to be eligible for the division title) that Florida had to play the game.

3. LSU didn't hold the game hostage. At the time of the game being canceled, we were the ones who needed the game and Florida didn't (or didn't think they did). LSU raised hell all week leading up to the game to get Florida to make some contingency plan, any plan at all, to make sure the game got played. We offered to play on Sunday or Monday in Gainesville, on any day of the extended weekend anywhere else, and even offered to host the game, but Florida consistently refused to discuss any possible contingency plans whatsoever. As soon as the storm showed even the slightest possibility of affecting Gainesville on Friday night or Saturday morning, they cancelled the game completely with no backup plan.

4. After the SEC commissioner made up his rule about having to play all games (under pressure from media), UF suddenly wanted to play the game after all, so LSU very reasonably refused to give up a home game because of Florida's negligence and intransigence in getting the game played the weekend it was supposed to be. Until that rule, UF was happy not to play the game at all (it was the only SEC game left on their schedule they weren't favored to win). They passed up many options to play it on the originally scheduled weekend (extended) at the originally scheduled venue, so they were rightfully the ones who should have had to sacrifice when they were the ones who had forced it to be rescheduled in the first place.

Some LSU people talked shite, and certainly everyone, including Florida fans, thought LSU was going to win the game. By the time the game happened, though, we had already lost to Alabama, so the additional loss wasn't really all that meaningful. Of course, we didn't like that our team gave the game away in a hundred different ways, but I certainly don't blame Florida for that.

Hurricane surprised us and its too late to reschedule. Pay no attention to the schools above and below us that played anyway, and if an adjustment was needed, it was at most pushed back to Sunday. Unsure about the previous 5-6 pages of post but my dislike for Florida comes about from a night game in Gainesville about 20 years ago. Walking back to the RV after the game, bunch of frat guys throwing shite on us from the second floor of the frat house. I ran into the house and got to the balcony to only have them all jump from the balcony.

My dislike of them is because none of them had to balls to stand there and fight me. Hey, had 5-6 of them on the balcony, they could have whipped my arse, but no, they all jumped and ran.
