He also underwent back surgery in 2013 and therefore will focus on his health, unable at this time to devote his time to the duties that are required of him to determine the finalists for the college national football championship playoff.

As someone who's had knee surgery before, I can't help but argue he'll have more time than ever to focus and watch football

from what I heard on McElroy's radio show on Sirius, there is no replacement...

I can't believe they didn't come up with a process for alternates like they do on a jury...

Probably was in the cards to not let another SEC guy in. Fook Delany!

College Football Playoff has now issued their press release

Will not add replacement and will stay at 12 for remainder of season.

The committee has been meeting since November, 2013. It will now have 12 members for the rest of the season. The group will issue its first rankings Tuesday, October 28, and will also issue Top 25 rankings on five more Tuesdays before Selection Day, Sunday, December 7

I had no idea the committee would have rankings. I don't like that.

That is terrible. It could very likely be Ole Miss that gets screwed as a result of this. Wouldn't that be ironic.

HHmm, or maybe he becomes the new SEC commish. That would not hurt Ole Miss.

From an OM perspective he couldn't have done any good for us because he wouldn't have been allowed any input regarding Ole Miss.

Why not? Is that a rule? I thought the bias was cancelled out by multiple inputs, not rules that restrict input.

IF he did in fact not make Peyton's game last nite, he must be hurting. The SEC may well take a hit by his leaving, but Rice was quoted several times as being a self professed bama fan, so bama's interestsa re still covered & she doesn't even have to leave the room when bama comes up, not having any official ties to the program. But, hurt or not, I can see Archie not wanting to get caught up in all the BS that would hit the fan if the Black Bears do go undefeated. This way he can just sit back & openly enjoy them winning.

I like and respect Archie to death, but he was always awful for this committee. He has two sons playing QB in the NFL, and loves his alma mater. No way he was taking the time to truly watch all the games, and I dont blame him. I wouldnt want to waste away the years of watching my boys play in the NFL

Easy there. Slow down. He didnt "step down." He'll be back in 2015.
