Playoffs have taken the luster of playing in a bowl.

It doesn't seem like it would be that bad . I would prefer to have the replacements getting practice and game time over a star player that just wants to get the game over and sign with his agent .

Last year many people debated whether LF7 should sit out his junior year to avoid injury. Now he is criticized for sitting out a bowl game.

I don't like what they are doing. But I do get it. If I were in their shoes I would think long and hard about a meaningless game.

I hope this does not set a trend for the future. Players may stop playing once they are eliminated from the playoffs or from a conference championship.

I could imagine a situation where a player bails even if his team was in the playoffs.

Business decision.

If i had a chance to get 25 mill, I'd upgrade to a two story double wide.

I really don't care whether LF7 or McCaffery play. Yet, as I have watched the threads on the SECr, listened to the radio and watched the talking heads on espn et al, I have to wonder if the reaction would be the same if a "star" QB or RB, both projected high round draft picks, play, what the reaction would be if a highly projected center or left tackle decided to sit out a none playoff bowl would be.

I suspect fans would go ape-shite and sports media would universally condemn them for abandoning their teammates. I hope it happens at some point. I want to see the reaction.

I keep seeing Lattimore mentioned in these discussions but he was injured in the regular season. Drop that example. Jalen Smith or Willis McGahee would be better examples. But they weren't quitters

bullshite. Leonard could play if he wanted to. You igmos actually defend his decision to quit on his team. Unbelievable. Could you imagine Jonathan Allen not playing because he was afraid to get hurt? Me neither....

You need to get your facts straight. While I am no Lsu fan, even I keep up with the conference. LF has been playing a lot of football this season hurt and all it's done is not allow that injury to heal.

Now you have the NFL draft coming up and rest assured he has been told that he needs to be a 100% or it will affect his draft status. You are dealing with a guys future now. You damn right he is sitting out and I agree with him.

It's a free country.

I don't think I can force anyone to "play", but I guess GM's can decide how important football is to a guy who chooses not to compete in scheduled game.

If you don't think their agents are calling the shots at this point you're kidding yourself

It's a valid example - he sat out a few games including the season finale due to injury. What part of that is that hard to grasp?

I know how to stop this new trend. When the players sign scholarships put a clause that if they don't finish their season, they have to pay it back!

So an overrated idiot like a Myles Garrett wants to call out Fournette when he has never won a game of importance and was a non factor his whole career against LSU.

Fournette is hurt, has been the past month, it is the damn Citrus Bowl, millions are on the line, what is hard to understand.

You go to College in order to make a better living in the real world, you don't jeopardize that for a meaningless bowl game for which we know there are too many of them now.

That's good in theory, but when you look at why they are quitting early they can just pay it out of the millions they are chasing. Needs to be something of shame to do so, but gonna be hard to get that when everyone's response is "I get it, but sad part is how it's going to be bad for the future of cfb."

Strip recognition of any kind at the school, etc could be a start.

He doesn't know you, or care what you remember. Sitting out the citrus bowl in itself will probably only be remembered by shitheads like yourself.
