I wouldn’t mind a FAFO situation happening to the players in regards to NIL and the portal. Really feels like their hand has been overplayed with this free for all shite show that has been started.

Excellent. You want to be paid a salary like an employee, you’re going to be treated like an employee. Show up for work or clean your shite out and turn in your key card.

Whups, you left out the only thing that would matter: money.

You miss two of twelve games: your payout is reduced accordingly. You stop playing half way through the season, even if you are barely passing Math 101, you'll feel with the weekly checks stop in late October.

Forcing players to play will never happen. Enticing players to play is a much better option

They need to get rid of some of these useless bowls and raise the bowl eligibility requirements to 7 wins.

if i'm a head coach or NIL collective or whatever, i don't put this type of stipulation in the contracts. instant recruiting advantage.

The assumption is that their last check will be in the mail/direct deposit. I thought that was obvious.

Should make it a bonus for playing in the post season rather than part of the regular contract, then you can take it away from them if they are "injured". If they show up and play half assed? Well you're future employer is watching...

UGA tried to convince players to not opt out in their bowl game against Texas a few years back after losing in the SECCG and thus missing the playoff. It didn't work out too well.

Since then Smart has basically told the team that they need to be all in to play in the bowl. If they're transferring or thinking about the draft, he encourages them to sit the bowl game out.

We haven't lost a bowl game since. The non-playoff post season appearances have had lots of opt outs, but they players that are on the field are all giving 100% effort, playing hard either to get draft position, or for playing time the following season.

I don't think UGA NIL deals will have a condition to play in a bowl game. Playoff? Perhaps. But not non-playoff bowls.

And with the playoff going up to 12 teams, who really cares if players sit out non-playoff bowl games?

as much as it sucks to see how watered-down bowl games have become, I don't think holding a gun to the players' heads and forcing them to participate is the answer. I'd rather just see the guys who want to be there.

They ought to be forced to go to class and pass on their own. This would help stop the chaos going on. But, but too much money involved not to let the non students play

Yes, I'm sure players who are hoping to transfer or go pro will absolutely be willing to sandbag their in-game performance to their own detriment out of spite.

The ones going Pro don’t need a bowl game to show their worth. The transfer potentials are the ones I said would put forth the effort.

Good. If they get money they need to give max effort EVERY game. And if they visibly slouch off in a bowl game there should be a rule where they lose a certain percentage of their first NFL contract. That would require an agreement with the NFL and NCAA though. frick this playing halfway BS because of fear if injury. That's part of the job now that money is involved.

I think in this case you are being asked to skin the cat and are trying to figure out how to get out of it.

Very true. A poor bowl performance has never hurt a player's draft stock. Would never happen.
