Why hasn't this worked better for Auburn the past two years?

Knute Rockne says hello. By the way, Saban 30th all time winning percentage. That said, he is arguably best and definitely top 10.

Coaching is dynamic, but I've often wondered why someone hasn't photocopied Nicks recipe/procedure to a measurable extent. I think a lot of that plays into decisions like Smart to UGA. Hoping he can channel the process; however, it just never seems to take off.

Goes to show you that the personal intensity is critical........plus having #1 recruiting classes year in and year out.

If you try to do what a genius does, but aren't a genius yourself, you will inevitably fail.

Not everyone can do what Saban does, and they shouldn't try,

Meh.....Urban Meyer is pretty dang good too. I personally like Saban better, though, but Meyer produces some really good and dynamic teams.

It doesn't hurt that he has a network of booster clubs across the state who are willing to do anything and everything to steer kids to Tuscaloosa. Need a new weight room?... Check. New stadium lights?.. Check. House sitting job for player's family... Check. Enticements for uncles and aunts and grandmas?...Check. Couple that with the fact that he is an extremely organized human being and a good coach and you get what you get now. An unbeatable team essentially.

Carroll did he same thing, and still does as well, just in a nicer manner. Saban and Carroll are the ultimate broad brush strokes guys who a couple of areas of true expertise. Guys like Muschamp are incapable of that. Miles can't either.

So what is considered his tree at this point?

Muschamp-USCe
Jimbo-FSU
Smart-UGA
Mac-UF

Dantonio was on his staff at MSU. Probably the first of the tree.

You left out the jobs at the Mercedes plant. Wise daddies know that, big picture, this is worth more than a one time bag of money.

You can't duplicate it unless you are able to BE the same person.... have the exact same effect on other people, from coaching to players to recruits to bosses to fans.

A lot can be learned from them, but there's a reason his brand of epic is so rare. Only a handful ever reach it because the rest want to live their actual lives.

Almost every "great" seems eaten alive by only one thing. That thing is: The next win.

As pointed out earlier, does he go into saban's tree or into Tressel's? Herman was a GA at Texas so is he a Maxk Bown guy? Is Durkin a Meyer or Harbaugh guy? Some split probably but Tressel and Saban coach a similar style in a lot of ways

Here's the difference in Saban vs Others:

1- He knows when to kick/chew an arse and when to pat a back
2 - He pays crazy attention to the DETAILS
3 - He's extremely competitive, way more than most
