True...but you have to include Alabama @ USC 1971. The two really are intertwined...one without the other isn't as meaningful.

2011 loss to texas - would have come into the SEC with Mike Sherman as coach and Manziel on the bench if we hadn't lost that game.

UT Sec championship game- incredible game and really got the ball rolling

2003 Georgia game- loudest I have ever heard Tiger Stadium and many believe was the day we entered elite status.

1995 win vs LSU - established LSU as our bitch, made them back out of a series that they still haven't paid us for.

I think that Clemson game is the most important game in Saban's time at Alabama. Without that huge win, I don't think we get hot like we do in 2008 and then suffer the heartbreak, which subsequently propelled us into 2009, then 2010 happened as a result of 2009, then 2011 as a result of 2010, ect. It's just a chain reaction that all starts with that Clemson game.

I love how y'all will be forever rustled over us backing out of the series.

And we still kept the money

That Clemson win was big for Saban's turn with the Tide.

1958 Halloween vs. LSU

Yep. Lost 14-0 that year, one of our only two losses. LSU did win the national championship that year though, so I don't see how it's that pivotal.

2001 SEC CG. That was when the smoldering began that grew into the dumpster fire at UT.

1975 upset loss to Arkansas in Little Rock. #1 Michigan had lost earlier in the day and all we had to do was beat the Hogs. Fans knew, players new it and we didn't perform. Arkansas did.
Typical wishbone loss. Hogs scored two quick TD's and it was to hard to offensively recover from that. QB David Walker was hurt but that was no excuse. Our defense was one of the best in the nation at the time and there was excuse to give up those quick TD's.

1980 vs. Tennessee
The Dawgs were trailing late, Herschel has his famous run over Bill Bates, Georgia goes undefeated in the SEC over the next three seasons.

2001 vs. Tennessee
First big upset win of the Richt era. Our first win in Knoxville in a loooong time. 2001 wasn't special, but it set the stage for the 02-05 run that produced 2 SEC titles.

Alabama had set up a series with the men of Troy that some say the Bear staged in order to show the physical and mental toughness the black athlete brought to the sport of football. An effort that supposedly he hoped would show the south what they were missing.

Pretty much none of this is true.

1985 Sugar Bowl...blow-out win over Miami...put Tennessee in the national spotlight and set up the recruiting that would carry UT into their surge in the 90's.
