Piped in music and less band play

Is this a product of making the game more entertaining (regardless of your views on it) or is this to appeal to recruits? Or both?
You see it more and more every year. It used to be just schools that didn't have a decent band (yes, like South Carolina). These days it seems to happen everywhere. Me personally, I'm not against it but there is too much of it. Every tv timeout it's either an ad or music. I remember going to games and the two bands before the game would "duke it out". One band would play and then the opponents band would play immediately after. That doesn't happen anymore. It's just music.

Our band sucks so I like the music more, it's easier to get hyped up off of.

I love marching bands. One of those things that makes college football great.

I can agree with that. Our band is in (IMO) the worst spot in the stadium. Hard to hear them sometimes. Our band has gotten a shite load better, but still aren't there. I fully believe if we had a good band like Bama or LSU, sandstorm wouldn't be our thing right now.

Croots like rap music. That's pretty much it

See, I get that. What I don't get is in the 3rd quarter Taylor Swift gets blared during a TV timeout. That does nothing for anybody

They played "The Stroke" during a replay timeout in the A&M game. I was really confused

You got that right. I'd hate my band too if all they played was Dixie's Land my trailer park dwelling friend.

Your stadium isn't on campus, is it?

Well marching bands suck so piped in music is much more enjoyable

I went to the LSU/Alabama game this year and didn't hear their band once outside of kickoff and half time. I'm not sure if it was my position in the stadium but it was something that caught my attention.
People bitch on TD and other sport forums about how their programs play too much piped in music. I'm telling you, go to a game at BDS and it'll make you appreciate your game day.
All you hear is Cochran constantly screaming (literally) over the PA speakers and We Will Rock You on repeat. It was miserable. I couldn't do it every week.

What does that have to do with anything?

OM has the most ghetto music and videos...but it did get everyone hyped.

I like a mix of both. For A&M, we obviously love our band, but I don't mind mixing in some Zombie Nation, Mötley Crüe, or Kanye to get the crowd hyped, too. Doesn't have to be one or the other (not saying that's what you were implying, OP, just seems that that's what these discussions tend to turn into).

Sandstorm has ruined the piped in music.
IMO, piped in music, done in excess, ruins the experience.
But so does hearing Rocky Top or the Boomer Sooner song 35 times a game.

From Alabama to the rest of the SEC.
Hi folks,
If your band doesn't suck, stop reading. If your band does suck, as apparently some on this forum think theirs does...boo friggin hoo.
How about demanding excellence from your band...oh and maybe your football team too. Instead of being ok with mediocrity (Vol fans this means you).
If you start demanding excellence, you just might be surprised and get it. I'm fine with you not doing so though, I'm enjoying your tears.
Our football team owns you, our fraggin band owns you. Man up or get off the field.

I agree. I can't stand that annoying Sweet Home Alabama song they play at Bryant Denny stadium. It feels like you are watching a monster truck rally rather than a football game.
Well, now that I think of it, I guess it doesn't matter because everyone around you in that stadium is just some toothless redneck anyway so I guess the environment isn't affected either way.
