I think the immediate advantage it gives UK is in recruiting against the Big X and ACC schools. Recruits know the SEC is loaded with excellent facilities and UK needed to show that we're in the game.
We obviously can't recruit against most of the SEC schools so it's imperative that our program has everything that the best programs have and better than those programs that are similar to ours in the other P5 conferences. We s'posed to be SEC, after all.

I think it's a great idea to have the Student Center/Rec Center in one location.

Early 2018 is the targeted completion date. I like the mix of old and new. They're renovating the original portion from 1938 and meshing it with the totally new-from-the-ground-up modern architecture. At first I was skeptical but after the renderings I became enthusiastic for the changes.

Heard it can not be occupied due to asbestos and to remove it is too costly to renovate it. As soon as the grad dorms that are completed next to it, they are bringing down the towers.
