I think penn stae fall back next year. Gotta play defense son.
Didn't they lose their wideouts. I don't know if you can play jump ball offense with a brand new core
Wisconsin might not be there either. Easy schedule but talent wise?

You are so LSUsessed. It's sad, really.

I guess Phil is not enamored with LSU's new motion offense like that Junior in high school was yesterday.
You can go back over a decade of Phil Steele publications and you will notice he ALWAYS has LSU ranked substantially lower than other preseason publications. Thats just his deal.

Steele is worse than Mark May, Joel Klatt, & Booger combined.

This is literally my first post about LSU in at least a month.
I'm sorry my posts really hit home with your fan base to make all of you remember them so well.

Well sans 2011, LSU has underperformed every year compared to their preseason poll rankings over the last decade.
So, you're saying he knows what he is talking about?

Florida in the Top 10 seems like a joke with the way McElwain has been draining the talent level there. They look like they will take a step back this year, not forward.

Wrong.
In the last ten years LSU 'over-performed' in the polls 3 times, not just 2011.

If I remember correctly, Steele predicts the AP preseason poll yearly, but that is his prediction of a poll and not his prediction of the season.

I've always wondered, How in the hell did Phil Steele become an expert? He does seem to put a lot of research into his predictions.
I wonder how much money he makes doing this shite.
One easy forecast - Ole Miss if going to get their stinking asses hammered.
- Fill Steal

2016: Preseason #5; Postseason #13
2015: Preseason #14; Postseason #16
2014: Preseason #13; Postseason Unranked
2013: Preseason #12; Postseason #14
2012: Preseason #3; Postseason #12
2011: Preseason #4; Postseason #2
2010: Preseason #21; Postseason #8
2009: Preseason #11; Postseason #17
2008: Preseason #7; Postseason Unranked
2007: Preseason #2; Postseason #1
You're right. I was wrong. They've only failed to meet expectations 7 times in the last decade.
I do find it odd that in the 3 years they "overachieved" they moved up a grand total of 16 spots, whereas they "underachieved" by a total of 57 (assuming you stop at #25 for the two years they were unranked) in the other 7.
ETA: Point still stands though. Phil Steele is the more accurate prognosticator when it comes to LSU.

This OP would be better if you posted how accurate Phil Steele has been over the last however-many years he's predicted how the AP will rank the top 10 teams

Meh.
The fact is that this is what someone predicts the pre-season AP poll to be. The joke of it is, after the first game of the season, everyone complains about how stupid the pre-season poll is and how it shouldn't even be published.
Are we supposed to care about how well someone predicts a shitty poll?

Only when it's "your" team that being predicted to be in the top whatever.
