Truth? He embarrassed at least one of them when he pushed for a hire while still working in the UTAD. The bigwig was a fool and shown to be one. I don't think that's ever been forgiven. BUT NOTE: I am guessing based upon what I know of the situation. Some truth and a lot of unverified bull I've tried to wade through to reach a reasonable distillation of truth here.

Would be an awful hire. Won't be surprised at all if that's what we do.

Fulmer should have been fired after 2005.

Even in his great 2007 season he lost by 40 to Florida and 25 to Bama.

Program was going nowhere fast.

2007 was in no way great (I don't think you really were implying that it was). We basically pulled out 3 lucky wins at the end of the year to sneak into Atlanta. That team legitimately should have lost to South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky to finish 6-6. Fulmer torpedoed the program and bringing him back as AD would show Tennessee is more concerned with living in the past rather than trying to improve the future.

He basically told Charlie Anderson he was an idiot for supporting the Derek Dooley hire.

Finally this just might break the Fulmer curse and allow Tennessee to start winning meaningful games again.

From what I understand there has been a more recent issue involving basketball as well.

More like we'll have an AD with no experience known for making terrible hires and showing too much loyalty to failing assistants. And let's not forget this guy pushed for Mike Hamilton as AD.

Also, if Fulmer is AD, I don't see him ever being fired, so don't expect Tennessee to return to contender status any time soon.

Impatience hurt UT for sure. Dave Clawson, and the difficulty for players to learn "The Clawfense" caused fear. Losing out on both Taj Boyd (which was key in getting Dabo where he has Clemson today), and Bryce Petty on campus would have been good. What Kiffin did there hurt UT long term too. If Dooley had either of them on campus things he could have possibly had UT on track faster.

Except the 19 wins.

For context, UT's record in those 2 years was 19-8. That equals Saban's *worst* 2-year stretch at bama (2007-2008), and, to find bama's 8 most recent losses, you have to go all the way back to 2011! Over that stretch (2011-2016, full seasons), bama is 76-8.

So TN's AD will be a better coach than their actual football coach?

This entire AD has tanked, and with these limp dicks involved with the University nothing is going to change. Might as well bring in Phil for the lols

This. I was being more roundabout but this is the truth.

Pretty convenient to cite the best coach possibly ever.

Fulmer is the last UT coach to win 10 games in a year.

This is goofy any way. The skill sets for AD and HC are not necessarily congruent.
