Peppers at PR? Didn't he have like 1 TD? Garbage.

I'm not a PFF fanboy but I don't see any major issues with the list, after first glance.

That isn't how PFF does things. They break down and evaluate every player's performance on every single play. Gives you a more complete picture than statistics alone.

So for example, a receiver dropping a good pass doesn't affect a QB's grade. Likewise, a receiver pulling down a garbage pass doesn't save it, the QB is still graded on the quality of the throw.

They seem to like Ragnow more than the other lists. Had him graded highly all year.

Howard was a solid receiver at tight end this year. Where he truly separates himself from his peers though is as a run blocker. There wasn’t a better run-blocking tight end in college football this year, and he impressed in arguably the toughest conference defensively.

Tight end: O.J. Howard, Alabama With 37 receptions for 445 yards, and a yards per route run average of 1.54, along with providing a safe pair of hands for true freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts, Howard was a solid receiver at tight end this year. Half of a TE's job is to block and he does it better than any other TE.

Your knowledge on TE skills is negligible.

I thought the same thing. Don't get me wrong the kid could be absolutely amazing, but isn't utilized at his position.

Only thing surprising me is JK couldn't at least get 2nd team.. Guess he had more of a down year then I thought.

Howard is as good an edge sealing blocker as I have ever seen.

You can't be serious. There are at least 3 TE in the SEC who are comparable or better. Bama fans are the worst

I looked for his stats in the national rankings a few games back and he wasn't there because he hadn't passed the minimum punts mark. Efficient offense sucks for him.

As pass catchers? Sure. As blockers? Not even close.

As both? Nobody is as good an all around tight end as Howard is in terms of pass catch threat and blocking.

What differentiates a TE from a WR is that a TE blocks, and Howard is the best in the nation at that. PFF just doesn't look at someone's base numbers to see how good of a player they are. Some of these TEs rack up numbers because they're used as a receiver more than a TE at times.

Engram is a slot receiver. That's fine, but just because some guys don't have to attempt to block in their scheme doesn't mean blocking doesnt matter for a tight end.

However, it's harder to quantify so people ignore it.
