I think Kelly should be in the top 25. I am not sure if DJ Jones deserves to be that high on the list but I sure hope so.

PFF is garbage

Any player ranking list, particularly college, is going to be very difficult to do well and controversial.

PFF is considered one of the better player ranking systems out there though.

Do you know of a better list of top 100 players in college football for 2016?

With the college game being less quarterback-centric than the NFL, we have some leeway to give positional boosts for certain players who carry the workload for their respective team. The other challenge for the college game is the adjustment for competition, but we also wanted to be careful not to overlook outstanding small-school players. For that reason, the small-schoolers who made the list did so on the strength of excellent grades that were above and beyond their peers, often over a two-year sample

McCaffrey over Fournette is absurd. He's got a better shot at the Heisman, but Fournette is better than that dude. I'd argue Garrett should be above him as well.

I think the above that talks about their criteria explains the reasoning. Not saying I agree with it because I don't, but the Stanford offense uses McCaffrey in so many more ways and they still have him as a returner also. If you put LF on Stanford he would surpass the production, but I don't think that's what they're after.

No sane neutral CFB fan would take McCaffrey over Fournette

lots of flaws on that list.

Arden Key is now a LB too. I understand they can't rank him based on a new position though.

Hurd seems low to me. I figure he's a top 50 player.

I truly hope Stanford makes the playoffs to see Christian against an SEC team. I'm sorry but going nuts on the pac-12 and Iowa just don't do it for me.

I find it odd that Pro Football Focus would rank McAfree over Fournette.

From Article:

One final note: this list is all about college football and the 2016 season. We are not projecting for the NFL or any future drafts.

They made it clear that it wasn't about their NFL potential. I still don't agree with it, although as I said earlier McCaffrey does virtually everything for his team.

fair enough

I hope LSU uses Fournette more effectively this year.

There are literally dozens
You take your pick.
I personally consistently disagree with PFF on many evals.

Which is pretty dumb for a site called profootballfocus.com

It seems they purposely made an effort to not over valuate the QB position.

I'm legitimately asking for better ones. I want to see them. But your post doesn't help me at all.

I agree that it was odd coming from them but they did clearly state it before the rankings because I'm sure many people would assume it was about future NFL potential like I did before reading.

The list actually contains 10 O-linemen I think. Only about 10% of the total which does seem pretty low. Most of these lists have a difficult time evaluating offensive lineman compared to other positions with more readily available production numbers.

I don't have a problem with McCaffrey being number one. He's the most valuable non-QB to his team in the country.

That's the only way I can really rationalize it. If it was my pick I know who I'd be taking and it would take maybe three seconds to decide

Agree but I still don't think he is the best player in CFB, top 3 for sure though. Don't really have a big issue with it because it is close.
