Why not? Saban is getting what 4 mil for 9 wins and a 4th place finish in the west?

You're gonna compare a coach that has won a MNC a 2 different SEC schools to a coach that hasn't even gotten to the Conference Championship...

Being offered a job then turning it down to extend at a current school seems like the definition of "shunned" to me.

Regardless, what's more to the point is that Petrino is a hell of a better fit than either of those guys would've been.

Bowden "turned down" Arkansas when Long was told to tell him he didn't have the money to pay him...

Doesn't matter, but several of Long's candidates were given a "NO!" by the people who cut the checks...

If you find that hard to believe remember this is the same man who has said Pel has been doing a great job the past 2 seasons...

I'm not saying Petrino doesn't deserve it... because he does

Bama is paying the Money Saban demands because he has proven results which Petrino has yet to earn

What he has done in this amount of time is pretty crazy. That 2008 team was awful. We should have lost to Western Illinois and ULM.

This is only his 7th year as a head coach, barring a choke job by Auburn, he would have taken 2 teams to BCS bowls.

After having the longest tenured coach with out a BCS appearance, excuse us if we are a little excited about the direction of our program...

Don't be offended. You misspoke about Saban not being worth the cash and got called out, it's ok brother.

That's fine but you are acting like he has done just as much as Saban

Arkansas had a great QB this year, and a great QB

Decent D..good coaching

From LSU's stand point, we gifted you 2 TD's...seriously, that was ridiculous, and hasn't happened all year. 3 bombs in one game? Are you kidding me?

Not trying to sound cocky: that has happened to everyone we've played this year--it's just part of our offense. Petrino is a mastermind at finding mismatches and exploiting them. The 4th and 3 touchdown play was the culmination of a year of preparation after our game against you last year, according to what one of the coaches (I think it was McGee) said in the post-game press conference. They saw a tendency in the film after last year's game and started practicing the play in the spring and continued practicing it in the fall and throughout the season, planning to use it whenever the opportunity arose--against LSU or someone else. It just so happened that the opportunity surfaced against LSU.

My point in writing out that anecdote is that this is how Petrino operates... he believes in creating big plays. Some offenses operate on grinding out drives, but ours is a big play offense. There hasn't been a single team we've played this year that didn't give up at least a couple of these plays.

True enough statement regarding Long and Pel. I suppose I don't know enough about the behind the scenes dealings concerning approval from the foundation and boosters and such to speak intelligently about it, other than what was reported by the media.

Regardless, I guess the point is that I like our current position.

I didn't misspeak I am well aware of what he has accomplished.

Not every coach in the SEC can claim a loss to UL-M.

Matters such as this normally do not make it to the media as it does not look good on anyone. It embarrasses the coach and your AD at the same time, but make no mistake it was a resounding "NO" with Bowden and a "Try again" with Grobe and a couple others...

Let's get this straight. Petrino is now not allowed to have a rebuilding year in the future, as Saban did in 2010.

No, but you're pretty much a dick in almost every post you ever make, so don't be surprised when you catch shite, even while people are (trying to) congratulate your coach and team on a job well done.

You're inferring that Saban is overpaid because of a 9-3 season, despite his three SEC title, and two BCS titles.

DaleDenton, sometimes it is better to say "yeah, I misspoke" than it is to keep digging.

Saban deserves every penny he gets because he has the track record. Petrino also deserves it, IMO, because he will soon have the track record.

Kinda how you inferred that a pay raise wasn't worthy for 10-2?
