Leave Verne and Gary alone. Even if Verne ain't perfect, he's got that great, nostalgic voice and he and Gary make a good team. Find something else to bitch about.

Gary gets a little "uppity" at times about guys playing hard with emotion..he's quick to label them as dirty or boneheaded when they are just playing hard. He's stubborn on replays, often refusing to acknowledge that his initial take was wrong based on the footage. The other thing he does is make some kind of a point (e.g. "watch how they pull the guard on these zone reads") and focuses on proving his point he made earlier regardless of the actual consequence or impact of what he's pointing out.

I am not a huge fan of Verne, but I really like Gary a lot. As much as I dislike Verne, hearing his voice on Saturday afternoons is sort of comforting, especially in the November games when it's dark outside in the 2nd half. Can't really explain.

I actually enjoy watching them. It's like some strange trainwreck you can't look away from.

I just hate that 2:30 CBS broadcast. The game moves way too slow and verne's Augusta national way of announcing just doesn't work for me watching a big SEC game.

I wouldn't sign that damned thing. Yes, I know Verne is getting old and sometimes misspeaks, but he's a freaking legend and he should stay until he's ready to retire. As for Gary, he's a good analyst and his insight adds to my enjoyment and understanding of the game I'm watching. They're a great team and I hope we get to enjoy them for many more years to come.

Besides, I just can't help but love to hear Verne say "ELL-ESS-YOU TOUCHDOWN!" with just the right pause between each letter. He's the Keith Jackson of this generation of announcers (although he's really part of the same generation as Jackson).

Gary is ok. he actually does a lot of research for the games and is usually good for 5 or so insightful statements each game.

the only cool thing about verne is that he was in happy gilmore.

I understand how you feel. Verne messes up sometimes, but he's such an icon that I really think he adds to the broadcast.

I'll never forget the funniest Verne screwup I saw. It was halftime of the 2001 SEC Championship Game. Rohan Davey and LaBrandon Toefield had both been injured in the first half, but no one knew how serious the injuries were and whether they would be back in the second half. Right at the beginning of the second half, the hot chick sideline reporter was going to break the news. Verne was doing the leadup to her announcement, but said "our (insert sideline reporter name) will let us know whether Rohan Davey and LeBrandon Toefield will return in the second half, and it appears that they will not"...(pause)..."but we'll have to wait until (hot girl sideline reporter's) report". They immediately cut to her and she gives us the bad news that Verne had already spilled. This poor chick has like 3 minutes of air time the whole game and he blows her big scoop! I loved it!

Verne picks the team he wants to win and cheers for them all game. Sometimes it's your team and sometimes it's the opposition.

He will get excited when the team he cheers for does something good. And get upset when the team he is cheering against does something good.

I've heard him many times scream TD! OH NO IT WAS INTERCEPTED ! OH NO!

Verne should have been fired 20 years ago for not knowing who Happy Gilmore was

I'd rather sign a petition to get the SEC out of the shitty CBS contract. CBS blows.

I believe the Ga/Tenn game ended a little after 7:30. I've honestly never paid that close of attention, but 4 hours for a football game? It's an all day affair.
