Saban wins at the college level because he is a great recruiter and just out-talents everyone else with a bunch of kids who fear him. But he leaves a lot to be desired as an X & O guy, and doesn't know how deal with grown men, which is why he failed in the NFL.

Oversimplified bullshite. But there is an element of truth in two areas: Saban's recruiting gives him an advantage, and Saban's style is much more suited to the college game.

If he doesn't coach or develop his players well, explain why Florida and LSU and Texas are all right up there every year and aren't playing for championships.

Pete Carroll, and it's not even close. Pete's proven himself at the highest level. Carroll is great in all phases of the game. But he leaves a lot to be desired as an X & O guy, and doesn't know how deal with grown men, which is why he failed in the NFL.

Saban was an epic failure in the NFL and he's too scared to go back. He only wins by fielding a way more talented team than the opposition. He'd get slaughtered in the level playing field which is the NFL.

Pete Carroll is better overall. He's proved he can win at the biggest level.

Losing 7 in a row to a team/coach will really make a bitch out of a guy, huh?

Everybody who wouldn't LOVE to have Saban as their Head Coach, raise you hand.

Yeah...I'm guessing the decade that has passed since UT was last relevant has dulled your grasp of football. Saban was in no way an "epic failure" in the NFL. Seriously, it takes a special type of ignorance about football just to type that, let alone believe it. He wasn't an instant success, but then again, neither was Season 1 = 7-9 record, Season 2 = 7-9 record Pete Carroll. Both of them were dealing with deep issues that needed fixing. The difference between the two is that Pete Carroll couldn't reasonably go back to CFB after the Bush saga, so he stayed in the NFL.

Do learn a bit more about football before throwing your Volly hat into the ring, por favor?

If I could play for one or the other, I would pick Pete Carroll. His players love him and they want to win for him, regardless of the Talent he gets. You can't say that for Little Nickie. It's a good thing he can recruit great talent. His players play because they fear him. I can't imagine that's a warm environment to play in.

What does that have to do with anything?

You should probably check out Carroll's first stint in the NFL and compare to Saban's two years. Two games under .500 after two years isn't exactly lighting the world on fire, but it's not even close to being an epic failure.

Ironic how Vandy fans are talking about inferiority complexes...
What's ironic about it? They've kicked y'all's asses 2 years in a row....of course that's not as bad as 7 in a row.

What? Vandy fans know we're never going to be a national power in much the same way Tennessee fans know (deep down, at least) that they're never going to be a national power again. We accept our lot in life and take comfort in the fact that we get a good education that teaches us big words we can shout at the TV in the mancave where we watch our beloved Commodores achieve the beautiful dream of getting above .500 before the end of the season.

Also, as Coach Crisp points out, as we watch our beloved Commodores beat the pants off Tennessee lately.
