7-6 is never overachieving for anyone other than Vanderbilt and Arkansas.

Especially after that national championship we won the year before.

That's weak. You've got to do better.

Utah State was probably the best win of the bunch...Still, you play who is on the schedule.

You have to put it into context, UT has only 8 power 5 wins in the last three years. Three of those wins are over Kentucky, and only one is over a team with a winning conference record.

UT is 8-20 against the Power5 in the last three years. Their eight wins came against teams that combined for a 44-56(19-45) record.

Preseason many media predicted that due to us not have a single returning OL or DL and having virtually no Seniors that we could lose to Utah St, South Carolina and Vandy.

The only games everyone predicted us as W's were Ark St, Chatty and UK.

We were better than we should have been.

That is the definition of overachieving.

Now that our team is more experienced, shown they are talented and added even more new talent with a top 5 class the media believes that we can contend for the East title.

So NOW 7-6 would be a massive underachievment.

NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND.

Yes, the last 3 years has been horrible...that is why 7-6 was overachieving for this young team.

The Vols have a fairly salty schedule. 8-4 and a good bowl game loss against a solid team is nothing to sneer at. Especially since next year is the year that Butch should have all the pieces to the puzzle.

Could they win more? Sure, the Vols have a pretty good amount of talent and are starting to regain what they lost over the years.

8-5 with some close losses to the good teams on their schedule and the Vols are looking solid.

Posting scores against SC... Butch's two best wins... I think you're confirming Butch's sentiments.

They need some thing to spice this game up since it'll be the battle of two 4-4 teams.

I wonder if Phil Fulmer every considered 7-6 overachieving? Butch has UT going in the right direction but that was stupid. No, UT does not have the talent they normally do, but I guarantee they had more talent last year than the 2013 vandy team that went 9-4.

I won't be off the Jones bandwagon or anything, I will just think we ever so slightly underachieved.

It depends on injuries and if any of the losses were flukes or not for me to truly form that opinion though.

But here on our SEC Media day when Booger, Joey and Marcus said we are the best East team I'm a bit more ambitious than I will be in September.

The three years before Fulmer took over at UT, they went 9-3, 9-3, 9-2-2. The three years before Jones took over at UT they went 5-7, 5-7, 6-7. Apples and oranges.

BTW...if Fulmer had gone 7-6 in 2008, he would probably still be the head coach in Knoxville.
