He's a Tennessee fan

Sorry, but these two games aren't really analogous.
People didn't hate Miami because they were winners. They hated Miami because they represented everything wrong with college football at the time. They bullied their way through a shitty Big East Conference every year, then won a bowl game and got crowned. They were arrogant, narcissistic, shite-talkers who showed no respect to anyone. They portrayed themselves as outlaws and thugs who were above the rules.
Alabama was quiet and humble. They didn't talk shite and they worked their way through what Southerners knew to be a tougher conference. They even had to win that first SEC Championship Game to get there.
Miami had talked shite for days, and the media were dropping on their knees to anoint them kings.
That arse whipping was so cathartic for everybody.
This game holds none of that drama.

These kids on here don't know that game was ever played, who gino toretta was and don't give a shite.
Asking these folks a question about something that happened before THEY were involved is about like asking a the pope a question about your neighbour. They have no fkn idea.

Sherman Williams was a damn good back for the Tide
Yeah, he was. But I don't think he played a snap vs Miami.
Derrick Lassic toted the rock in 92 ( Martin Houston led the way).
Sherm scored our TD that put us up 27-6. His little arse literally ran through Rusty Medaris and Jesse Armstead.
Asked Mario Cristobal about it once and he said he remembers the game very well and that Bama was a completely different level of team than anything the Canes had faced including Florida State. That he was never hit like that before that game or after it.
That game was the first time anybody had every put all 11 defensive players at the LOS. Now it's commonplace but back then it was unheard of.
Good story, Brother Oliver the morning of the game is talking to someone in his New Orleans hotel and is asked how they will stop Toretta, Lamar Thomas, etc. He said I can't tell you but we're are gonna play a base defense that nobody has ever seen in the history of football
